Moving my October entry to comments: I need some reassurance. I feel as though this strip is crushing my spirit lately and that my writing is flat. In a way, I suppose I'm glad that April even has a story arc, when it seemed as though Lynn was as finished with her as John and Elly appeared to be back on her 16th birthday. But we're left with these non-resolution resolutions again, and this entire arc feels superfluous.
I can't even go with the premise that April and Gerald are broken up, because once again the strip has made that as clear as mud. I'm not interested in a "Becky and Gerald hook up [again] and agree that April sucks" arc--partly because we've already done that (and Lynn slammed April and Ger back together) and also because Becky deserves better, and I don't like Gerald! If April and Gerald really do break up--and the strip doesn't explicitly show him getting together with Becky (or anyone else) I'd be inclined to let him be alone, dejected, and rejected.

April and JeremyhowtheduckJune 3 2008, 01:06:17 UTC
As you have no doubt been able to tell, I have been upping the sexual innuendo between Jeremy and April as their relationship goes on. As a point of snark, I always found April and Gerald’s relationship to be almost nonexistent, close to a Liz and Anthony level. They almost never did anything together, and they only kissed once a year. Lynn Johnston had them together starting in 2003, and never really took the time to do anything with their relationship. Because of this, I wanted to go for something a little more teenaged obsessive with Jeremy and April. In other words, a more realistic teenaged romance

I've had fun with Jeremy's approach/avoid hints that April and he have been up to something. I'm happy to follow your/Jeremy's lead and create the contrast against the beige, passionlessness we witness in the strip. :)
August 23 Wedding = ENDING on August 23!aprilp_katjeJuly 28 2008, 10:39:56 UTC
We learn in the July 28, 2008 strip that the wedding is to take place on August 23. What that really means is that the wedding sequence will end on August 23, and wedding-day strips will start well before that--maybe August 9 or so. My ARB continuity goes the other way--whichever date a sequence starts is, more or less, when it happens (otherwise, how could April be talking about it all that time).
I need suggestions on how to handle this. How will April be sharing events that will not have happened for another week? Clairvoyance?

Those are all great ideas for how April will know everything that's happening during the wedding day, patrickrsghost. What I haven't figured out to my satisfaction is how April will know 1-2 weeks in advance everything that happens on the wedding day. Since I expect "August 23" in strip time will unfold August 9-30 in our time.

What if Liz and Anthony held a small, private ceremony for immediate family only (John and Elly, Anthony's parents, Mike and Dee, April, the chi'drens, and a couple of bridesmaids and groomsmen that are close to the family like Lawrence, Gordon, Shawna-Marie, and Candace), and then on the actual date, they did the bigger ceremony, where everybody who's somebody attends? Pretty much the same prayers will be said, the same vows made, and all the usual gang of suspects (those I mentioned before) will attend. The only difference is there will be a whole cast of thousands in attendance. The "cast of thousands" comment comes from "The Bozo Show", since the wedding may turn into a circus before too long

I loved Good Morning, Milborough, with Candi Clonkers. A nice Meta snark for a strip that is overflowing with sentiment for persons not actually in the strip.

Thanks, howtheduck. My immediate response to today's strip was I just really didn't want to write about it at all. So a different approach was needed. :)
