I often wonder that myself..I actually wrote in my non-online journal about it....sometimes it just feels like nobody cares...but no matter how much it might seem like nobody does care..there is always, ALWAYS, someone who does...I've learned that....I have this thing...where I get as drunk as I've ever gotten before...and if people really do care...then they will help you..and take care of you..because thats what people who care about you do...I definately wouldnt tell anyone to actually try this..just cause it really sucks the next day...but...learn from my experience....and just trust me when I say..that there are always people who care about you...people you would least expect

I really dont think people care. People are selfish. We are animals. Although some of us may operate at a high stage of moral development, we still only help people so we do not feel guilt. We love people so we can feel good. We do all things for ourselves, although it may appear we are doing some things for the greater good, for others. But are we really? Maybe you can give me an example of when we do something for somebody besides ourselves. If you have any ideas I would like to hear them.

I know...when I help someone..it is not because I feel guilty or feel like I have to. I help people because they are my friends and I want them to be happy and I want them to realize how much I love them. The only personal gain I might get from it is seeing my friends happy which in turn makes myself happy. An exact instance of helping someone without any personal gain? I dont know if there truly is one just because I think it makes everyone happy when they help someone.

Loving people to make us feel good though? I definately disagree with you on that one. I know that I've loved a few people in my lifetime who didnt love me back and it hurt so bad that I felt like dying. Loving people has nothing to do with personal gain, it has to do with taking a risk on someone, loving someone is giving yourself to them without expecting anything in return because if you always expect something back you will be greatly disappointed. I think love might be the only thing people dont do for themselves, and if it is then there is your answer. Love.

you just stated another example of personal gain you make your friends happy and it makes you happy....

love, yeah ive been through it, you want to die, blah blah, but really why do you hold on to the person, because maybe at one point they did love you or make you happy, maybe you hold on to have someone care about you... maybe you are really lonely just like everyone else and you need to stop being such a hippie about things and admit it.
