*nods* Sadly, there's nothing more that can be done for those who already have HPV. The vaccine won't hurt them, but it won't help. But it can and will prevent future infections, so. . . !

Feel free! We've been trying to spread the news through the office, and I figured my LJ was a good way to pass the news. So yes, pass it on, encourage others to pass it on!

It is a little expensive, but its very much worth it. Since this is a rather large break-through, hopefully other forms of cancer or AIDS can be treated better. :)

*nods* That's what I'm hoping -- HPV is the most common STD, and one of the more common cancers (though a lot less since pap smears became standard). Hopefully a success with this will me successes for other treatments!

>.< Ugh. I was without insurance for a little while -- not fun. :( However, they think that most insurances are not going to cover it in women over 12 anyway, so. . . Sadly, we're all stuck paying $360.

I had heard about the controversy over it, I'm so glad that it's been approved. Thanks for posting this!

(I have an interest in women's health issues, lately I've been so busy with grad school that I haven't kept up with much!)

^.^ Not a problem -- I've been following the progress of this vaccine for years, thanks to my mother.

*laughs* I can keep you updated on pretty much everything that comes through the AMA, thanks to my mother!
