Between an Emory job in a lab I'm being offered, Spanish tutoring, and University reimbursement checks, I have enough dough to get me comfortably through a college semester. Ah, impulses! A blue Moroccan leather purse with tan flower imprints is mine. Now that I own a bag made from goatskin my reasoning for vegetarianism is obviously weakened. But this is fashion. The only thing I won't do is fur.

And this moment, I step cautiously into the world of moderation. No more gratuitous spending in Costa Rica.

One of my professors has told me that there is not enough "new empirical evidence" in a rough draft I just turned in. The point of my project was to take research already done and interpret the findings in a new way, with support from original interviews that I did. Amanda, Diane and I are going to get bagels today - a rarity in Costa Rica. That means bread with a hole in it, which makes the bread oh-so-much better, especially with melty cheese. Bagels warm my winter nights.

FYI, bagel in Spanish is "panecillo en forma de rosca." No wonder they adopt so many of our words...
