Weirdest experience ever

I get back from church today and 2 ladies knock on my door, and then invite themselves in. Sadly my house was not clean...yeah, so they just stood on the landing and evangelized to me. I tried to tell them in broken Japanese that I already went to church, and it came out that they were offering a 2 for 1 on gods I think, since they were saying ( Read more... )

Sounds like the Japanese equivalent of the Jehova's Witnesses or Mormons maybe?

Says he with no idea what creed you belong to (hopefully none of the above).

For some reason I don't think they were, because of the whole "Jesus is good but ________ (god I didn't know) is also compatible with Him too!" bits they were going on about.

Ah yes but so are, notionally, the M & JH. This is a house with many rooms: Roman Catholic, Protestant (Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Free Church, Unitarian, Non-Conformist, Amish, Shaker, etc, etc). I'm a Hatch-Match-Despatch Anglican.

Exactly. I was speechless myself because they weren't trying to convert me, they were trying to add a god in addition to Jesus in there somewhere...

That does sound bizarre!

adaese was once stopped by Jehovah's Witnesses when she was coming out of the house, and asked, "Do you believe in God?" The house she was coming out of was called "The Rectory", she had hymnbooks in one hand, and choir robes over the other arm ...
