My fun to read list currently includes some Amelia Peabody (of course), and an advance reader's copy of "Poison" by Sara Poole. Haven't really started that one yet, so I'm not too sure what it's about besides something to do with the Borgias. But I'll never say no to free books, so I'll give it a shot. Of course, I expect any day now to be handed down a fat list of less recreational reading from my advisor for the Fall, which will utterly obliterate any fun reading intentions of mine. :P
My idea of fun reading has shifted. I love Sherri Tepper but have found I need to read more lightly than her for "fun" now. I'm reading a book she wrote in 2007 which I missed and it's making me think...too much. I want to think less. To give you an idea of the kind of decompression I need, I'm spending time watching old X-Files. The kids are recording them for me...
Congratulations on one more term. It's like treading water, isn't it?
I absolutely rely on my "fluff" reading to keep me centered and calm. I recently got caught up on the latest Mary Russell novel (by Laurie R. King; builds on Sherlock Holmes), and soon I'll be reading more of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency books (set in Botswana; more relationships than detecting). I've got a Brandon Sanderson novel in the wings (fantasy), and I'm reading another to my son. I also confess that lately I've been reading some out-and-out "romance novels."
Thanks! And yeah, I definitely need fluff reading. I have some summer reading to do but I'm not facing that quite yet. This is the first summer I've understood how the fun reading CAN help center us. I move slowly but eventually get there...;-)
What's a 'fun to read' list? I haven't had time for fun reading for a while. I think the last thing I read was some erotic horror in short story form; I Shudder At Your Touch, and Shudder, Again. I can't remember who edited the anthologies, but they weren't even that spectactular, so probably not worth your time.
Whee! It's not like you didn't warn me that it might be a wild ride! I went to a symposium on sustainability at the end of the term that recharged me...got home and just want to sleep a lot.

Good luck with your pesky surgery. May you be up and running immediately afterwards!
I'm reading South of Broad by Pat Conroy. He's the king of haungtingly beautiful southern fiction.
