You're seriously going to read ALL of the Dune books?? I can barely make it through the wikipedia articles about them! More power to you if you're successful! :D

Well I did love the first Dune, so hopefully I will like the sequels too. It's just so much more different from other mainstream sci-fi settings.

I'm also gonna try and watch both film versions of Dune, even David Lynch's awful 80s version

His Dark Materials is one of my favorite series ever! It's a wonderful, engaging story, and it contains so many levels and so much commentary. I think you'll really like it. :) Let me know what you think after you've finished it!

Haha I won't be finished for a while! I'm excited to start it though. Reading this many books in such a short amount of time is an accomplishment for me!

I finished House of Leaves and I loved it with every fiber of my being.

The Lovely Bones... ugh. I finished it. Lemme just say you were wise to quit reading it. Such a disappointment.

Yes, HOL really is awesome. So insanely creepy and unnerving. What part did you think was the creepiest? For some reason, I really got freaked out at the checkmark on page 97, and I can't exactly tell anyone why. I also love how unreliable Johnny is as a narrator. You can never tell what's been made up and what's real.

I quit the Lovely Bones around page 70. It just wasn't doing it for me. I found it quite boring, actually....and I just didn't know what direction the story was heading in, I mean we knew who the killer was, so where was the mystery?

Why didn't you end up liking it?

What part of HOL was creepiest for me? Ohhhh man. Yeah, the checkmark on pg 97 was really "O_o" but I couldn't pinpoint just one part. So much of it was creepy for me. The "don't lift your eyes from this page, the thing is behind you" really threw me for a loop. Navidson's last expedition was scary. The letters Johnny's mother wrote really really creeped me out, what with her mounting paranoia about "the new director" and how you never know just how she was related to Zampano. AWESOME BOOK.

The "conclusion" to The Lovely Bones is what royally pissed me off. It had the potential of being an awesome novel but instead it took a nosedive. I would elaborate further but it would just involve me going on another heated tirade. ~_~; I've already ranted about it in several book communities now. XD;
