Got car. Escaped London. Saw the Baths at Bath - amazing.

Drove to Salisbury, saw Stonehenge and Old Sarum.

Really cool.

Went out to Windsor. Saw the Garter Chapel.

Went to the Wallace collection. Saw thje Armory.

Saw 221b Baker St.

I've done all of the things I wanted to do here, and it's starting to feel oppressive. Looking forward to soe driving round the countryside tomorrow, assuming I can successfully navigate out of London.

Went to Imperial War Museum, Museum of London. Both good. Saw shoes I have made replicas of - two piece upper one has a stich on the optside over trhe point of the toe. Nice to see my work measures up the the original. Was not allowed to handle originals ( Read more... )

Went to the Globe - had a tour, saw Dr Faustus. Was awesome.

We went to the George for a Pint, but it was closed for renovations. That's 2 locations that have been closed and din't have it on their webiste. Grrrr

British Museum is huge. Saw Sutton Hoo Helm, Warren cup, Rosetta Stone.

Totally munted.

Walked round Westminster. Nelsons column, Wellington's arch, Westminster abbey, 10 Downing st (st is permanently inaccessable) Buckingham Palace (no guard change today) Big Ben. Saw some ceremonial cavalry doing mysterious riding about things. Off to meet up with a corpie in a bit for a beer at a 500 year old pub.

A little worried about the rioting in London - we fly there tomorrow.

It seems to be well away from where our hotel is fortunately.

May be spending our evenings indoors.

Spent the day in Tallinn, in Estonia. I saw a tower that was built 800 years ago. 14thc houses still being lived in. I could clamber throught the towers and along the walls that were still intact. There was a cafe in the towers and along the wall of a bit of intact wall. The bits where more modern buildings had been built around and incorporating ( Read more... )

Summer cottage good. Has done the Finnish sauna - lake - sauna routine.
