I found him. He was in the corner behind the television. It's so freakin hot and I completely flipped out. So i put some tuna out for him and he came right on out and ate it. I was having visions of him laying dead somewhere from the heat. He's only 4 months old ( Read more... )

If cats aren't locked in a car with no air, they are very good at temperature regulation as their fur acts as insulation. The soft, light fur underneath traps cold (or warm in winter when they fluff out) air under the longer outerlayer leaving them able to sit in hot places for a long time - the heat plays up the temperature difference and they just veg out. I'd much rather be a cat in this weather than a human. Glad you located him though.

I bounty of useless information am I. There is more to it than what I just said, but it comes down to them having a really cool cooling system. Of course they can overheat... but it is less likely than us. Mine last night leapt in front of the fan, cooled himself down and then went off to sleep in the warmer parts of the house. Adores lying outside when it is 40 ... grumbles when I make him come inside.

Hee. Mmm, toes are tasty for cats. What colour is he? Mine is currently a couple of metres of dead cat on the bed ... he opens an eye, glares at me and goes back to being a long, hot, ginger stripe.
