No... this is not another medical post, I swear.

A few weeks ago, I had seen an ad for In Bruges once and immediately categorized it internally as "another silly gangster flick."  So, if it wasn't for

Just chiming in to say that I was also surprised by the degree of character development and ... weight given to the plot. Obviously some of the shoot-em-up scenes were a little nuts, but I came out of the theater thinking it was actually quite a thought-provoking experience.

hee yes--I felt really moved by certain parts of it, but then I was wondering if that's just because I'm easily affected by this sort of stuff, so it's definitely good to have someone else's collateral view! :) Glad you enjoyed the movie, too.

I felt the same way about spiderman hurling himself on the front of a runaway train and slinging web out to nearby buildings to stop the thing. Broken ribs? Dislocated shoulders? But then again he had spidey strength. Glad you enjoyed the movie... we should talk, it's been a while.

Yes, suspension of disbelief was certainly necessary in this movie--for more things than just the violence! Still, it had some very realistic touches, so I guess it's a tough balance to strike. :)

They're filming midgets!

*cough* Sorry, what I meant to say was, I know you pointed out the Voldemort thing to me, but did you realize that 3 of the movie's 4 primary non-midget actors also appeared HP4 (thanks, IMDB)? How random is that? Y'know, speaking of Bruges being like a fairy tale and all... Also, today a co-worker who had been there confirmed for me that Bruges is very awe-inspiring in real life too, in case you were wondering.

Finally, friendly reminder that you may want to spoiler-cut this lest you incur the wrath of folks who haven't seen the film :)
