I adore thrift-stores. Ironically enough, I'm about to leave to go shopping at thrift-stores for clothes that fit. I'll let you know what I find.

We don't have thrift-stores in Argentina, I know :O

But when I visit the states I make sure to visit at least a couple of those, you can find absolutely anything and I can spend hours wandering around, tis fun!

No way! i can't imagine that. how do you donate to the needy, and where? it seems so weird that something we literally on every corner here is non-existent in a country that is (admittedly much much) better than mine.

We usually give it to schools, churches and orphanages, there are people who take care of that. I'm donating tones of clothes to the mother of my friend who's shipping that to the north of the country where there was recently a big fire.

One of my best ones was a pair of heavy sterling ear clips, probably early 60s vintage, with large cabochons of onyx, in the costume jewelry case for one dollar. Apparently no one understood what 925 stamped in the back meant. I look for sterling anything as I'm saving it for materiel when I ever get to take a silversmithing course.

I found a pair of blue Doc Martins from Romania for $2 about 15 years ago. It was awesome!
