[water water and not a drop to drink]

gimme the deal with the water. i moved here from colorado where one could drink water from any household tap and it was cool and refreshing and... i tried drinking water in my roomie's apartment and gagged. i thought it was a temporary thing, or confined to her location, but no. our office went out for lunch and the house water was equally bad. my ( Read more... )

no...it's really that bad everywhere.

Many apartment complexes have a water machine where you can fill gallon jugs for $.50. Also, water filters aren't that expensive. I think my friend has one she bought for $20 - $30.

everyone pretty much buys filters or bottled water. There are tons of water stores around here

our water - our soil, thus our water- is alkaline, as opposed to other parts of the country which is acidic due to the high organic content of the soil. Once our flourine and chlorine is added in, the water tastes odd - a lot of it is recycled greywater, which is treated extensively as well.

It's a combination of chemical treatment, high pH, and mineral content.

and it blows.
