Bah. Copier repairman is taking FOREVER to install the new part that had to be special ordered. Since no one else is in the office, I can't go pump. *grumbles* Now I miss my temp, who got a full time job and had to leave earlier than the extra 2-3 weeks she was going to stay past my maternity leave.

Oh good! I thought you fell off the face of the earth and took Lenae with you! Good to know I was wrong.... :-)

Good job on the continuing to try BFing.... especially still pumping in that somewhat annoying work environment. Egads! Your boss should at least tell you so you can pump if necessary! Ah well...

Good to hear from you!

Boss is a bit absentminded and forgets. When she remembers, she is super supportive of pumping... she's just that bad forgetful.

How long did it take you to get those oz while pumping. I like hearing stories of people who struggle with BFing because I gave up after a short period with my first one. I really want to try it again with baby #2. I not patient but I want that closeness you get from BFing. I really would like to give it a good attempt and hearing peoples stories of it inspires me to try again.

Normally I pump for about 10 minutes per session, but the first session of the day (the big one that goes 3-5oz) I usually pump for 15 minutes. I'm using breast compression (massage) while pumping, which really seems to help keep things flowing along.

I love nursing her, even when I'm fighting with her on latching wrong (she just started having issues with one breast), although it's a bit time consuming when she nurses for 30 min per breast then wants to start over an hour from finishing (but I know she'll grow out of that).

I'm not patient either, so I didn't think I'd make it, but so far so good.

Well maybe I'm not too far off then. I would pump for like 30 minutes on one side and barely get an oz. That was like a month into it. I thought maybe my milk just wasn't in yet, but now I'm thinking it wasn't going to come in.

But that was then and I'm getting hyped up to try again. Congrats on getting so far!!!

Invest in a good electric double pump if you can (I have the Medela Pump In Style). I pump 10-15 min at a time and one breast produces more than the other (go figure). You can also try the various galactogogues, which work differently for different women (just like any "medication").

Ask your OB to check out your breasts for possible hypoplasia if you think that might be an issue. He should be able to at least assess it as a possibility, and women with hypoplasia have varied success at breastfeeding.

I laugh at myself now. I was completely anti-breastfeeding with my boys, and now I'm fighting tooth and nail to breastfeed this time... I think life's being a bit sarcastic to me eh? ;-)

Domperidone was another medicine we tried when struggling with low milk supply.

I hope your grandmother feels better. I also hope your supply gets better!

Where did you get your domperidone and what did it cost? From what I've seen, it's pricey and limited as to what pharmacies can fill a prescription.

It was a small, privately owned pharmacy. It was covered by insurance so I think...20 bucks? Something like that. If that's something you want to do, might need to call around. My midwife at the time knew who could fill it.
