Side 7 Jobs

Feb 22, 2011 12:34

So, I'm looking to open up positions of authority and access on Side 7. I absolutely need an experienced, capable Perl programmer, and I need a social networks manager. The Perl programmer would be taking over a significant portion of the development process for Side 7's codebase (there are some very significant changes planned, I'm just having ( Read more... )

If I could trust myself not to have peroids of complete flaking out, I'd apply. However... I'm kind of a derp.

That said, the thought struck me that, with some of the new changes in Second Life, allowing websites to be viewed in world, and not in the browser (though I think this is still in beta) therr could be a Side 7 presence on the grid. I am renting a sim right now, its all m, and I am about to do some major changes on the land.

I'll have to look into things a bit, but I may be able to make an in-world type gallery. Then a group in world for people to network (since L$ are a good way to get someone in world to give you a commission).

Just a thought. :3 I want to do something with the land, something cool.

Hey Snowhawk,

I've actually be looking at developing an API for Side 7, so that external apps and services could hook into it. There are a lot of things I'd like to open the site up to. A presence in SL might be helpful, if we can develop it properly. I could build hooks into S7 to allow SL to poll data and post it.

Well, if you can, let me know, and I'll see about getting website pages on prims. :3

I'm looking for a decent pre-built build I can poke at to give it the same "feel" as the site.

Poke me on AIM at some point soon, as I'd like to see if I can get a copy of the S7 logo for the land "picture." :3 I'm building a spot atm. My horse section was good for this, and sine I'm done with all that... Might as well put it to use. ;3

Mayhaps make it an intern type thing? I don't know how that all works, with college credit and the like, but a college student with spare time, etc would likely be more than adequate for your needs.

I'd volunteer to help out w/ the social networking manager thing, but I kind of have my hands full rofl

Yeah, not much that we can do with "intern" positions. Honestly, I'd rather just have someone who wants to see the site succeed and who is willing to put in the time and effort, rather than have to "bribe" them to do the work. I'm in a position where I really cannot offer anything right now.

However, if the site can be made more successful, then there's the opportunity for bringing in money, and then I could actually offer something. But, I have to have someone who is dedicated to the project to reach that point.

Good luck. I'd help out but I barely have time for my own projects as things are.

Good luck! I completely understand about wanting to be able to make it a paying position but not being able to. At my place, at least I have the option to offer a discount on the club dues to someone in exchange for help (i.e. cleaning) if/when I decide to get that bit off of my shoulders. It's frustrating when you're at the limit of what you can do with what you currently have but you're also stretched thinly enough that there isn't anything left to help push things to the next level.

If I run across someone interested and able, I'll nudge them your way!
