In the past month and a half of no updates:

I got a job. So far, I've interviewed Green Day, Slash and Duff from Guns N' Roses, Badly Drawn Boy, Uncle Kracker, Travis Morrison, a local rap band, Michael Ian Black, and next up... Dave Coulier. Hahahaha. What a weird list. The job is fun.

As of today, the band is finally back. Dan's elbow is fixed ( Read more... )

These guys would literally walk into the middle of the street (they were usually standing near it anyway) and hold out their arms in this I'm-about-to-drop-a-dirty-diaper-in-a-tall-hamper gesture and would shout, "Man, I got what you want right here! What you need?" and "Don't go nowhere else, man, I got the shit here." 4 times in 10 minutes on a Sunday afternoon at about 4pm.

i guess that's what they expect any white people that're even bothering to drive there to want... they must've been really confused when you didn't want any.

i have witnessed something KIND of like that, except they didn't come right out into the street and try to sell to anyone who drove by. they hung out on the sidewalk, and if you gestured to them, they'd come to your car.

we're looking at houses in ferndale. I love exploring Detroit, but I see no reason to live in the city limits: 3% city income tax, unreliable municipal services, poor schools (a big resale consideration), and higher insurance rates for car and home - no thanks.

I am enjoying my time here. I have taken a new approach. Or am trying to - don't force something (moving) when most signs other than seasonal depression indicate that you should stay a little longer.

do you mind me asking what price range you're looking at in ferndale? because me&d were looking too. however, with the sales of the condos we live in being very slow, and very much below the expected value, i'm not sure we'd be able to move anytime soon...

yeah it feels good to own. and yes, it's not so bad here when you've got friends and a job you enjoy. and i have also found...if you get a really warm jacket...and gloves and a hat, you barely notice it's cold outside. :-)
