PART I “I can’t believe that idiot slowed me down that much!!” Jin immediately proceeded to complain as soon he entered the room, stretching his arms above his head and trying to relax his body a little. Then his eyes fell on the two who hadn’t moved at all. “What happened?”Jin hurried to ask as he saw the wounds on Kazuya and ran by his side, already inspecting him with his eyes.
“Nothing. This idiot tried to open your locked drawer and I lost my temper when I saw him like that.” Pi immediately lied, acting like nothing had happened between him and Kazuya, and rolled his eyes with a lazy move, turning his back on them.
“Are you okay?” Jin then asked with a gentle voice, taking the younger’s hands into his as Jin didn’t want to let him go until he was sure that nothing too dangerous happened and that Kazuya was really fine.
Kazuya bit onto his lower lip, the reality of his actions hitting him like a wind’s whip. He gulped seeing Jin gullibly believing Pi’s half lie and wondered for a fleeting moment what would have happened if Jin had come a few moments earlier. He closed his eyes, realizing that what he did, he couldn’t take it back. Even if he had deluded himself that a kiss didn’t matter, it mattered when you had feelings. And despite his earlier behavior, he really loved Jin.
“I’m fine.” He managed to smile, holding back his feelings of guilt and the tears of pain. “I was a bit too curious.” Kazuya chuckled a bit, his words being a double edged sword.
“You should have asked me if you wanted to see something.”Jin gently scolded the younger, briefly kissing Kazuya’s lips that only a couple of minutes ago were being kissed by another man. “Didn’t Pi tell you that you’ll get hurt if you’re stubborn like this?” he added with a pout, convinced that his friend had indeed tried to tell Kazuya but hadn’t bothered to stop him too. Well, Jin thought with a sigh, it was enough that he had agreed to take care of Kazuya at least.
Kazuya stiffened a bit at the touch of Jin’s lips and once more his heart wept with guilt. “He did, but you know I’m not the obedient type. And it was too late when he decided to help me.” The younger replied with a shrug. “So… what where you saying about that idiot?” He changed the subject, smiling a bit too much. It was a bit vexing and pressuring having to stand in the same room with your boyfriend and his best friend whom you’ve just kissed.
“Yeah, Jin, what happened?” Pi asked, sounding a little concerned as he took a seat on the couch. Jin didn’t waste any time to join him, also dragging Kazuya after him and making him sit on his lap, then starting to complain that the idiot had first been late and then he hadn’t decided quickly at all what he wanted and had actually made Jin lose his temper in the end.
Kazuya stood as still as possible onto Jin’s lap, careful not to touch any other part that wasn’t Jin, avoiding any kind of contact with Yamapi who was listening to Jin’s story. What was he going to do if Jin was going to let Pi take care of him from now on? This time he had been lucky… next time, he might really get what he had stirred at first in Yamapi. He had to flirt and he had to keep being a big mouth, only to get himself into such a situation. Kazuya sighed inaudibly and let his head on Jin’s shoulder, closing his eyes.
He’ll have to ask Jin not to let him anymore with Yamapi. Under what reason, he’ll have to think about it.
“You’re tired?” Jin suddenly stopped in the middle of his rant, looking concerned at Kazuya. “Or you don’t feel well?” he then asked a little alarmed, desperately trying to remember what he had put into that fucking bomb and if it was dangerous enough for his lover to be treated.
Most likely yes.
Kazuya opened his eyes and instead of noticing Jin’s concerned eyes, he noticed Yamapi’s mocking ones. He closed them again and cuddled some more into Jin. “No, I’m just bored.” He replied with a monotone voice. “I said I wanted to work, Jin, not to hire me a babysitter.” He complained loud enough for Pi to hear. If he was acting like an ungrateful brat, then Pi would get angry and give up on his own, not being necessary for him to ask Jin to not let him and Pi alone anymore.
“Sorry, babe.” Jin apologized, kissing Kazuya’s lips and sounding like he was really sorry and not just faking it. Though he still he didn’t say anything about actually giving him some real work and most likely he didn’t even intend to. “I promise I’ll make it up to you for leaving you alone with that boring Pi.” He then joked and pursed his lips, like he was dissatisfied by his friend because he hadn’t entertained Kazuya enough. Behind him, Yamapi continued to smirk.
Kazuya cursed inside his mind. “Then I want to accompany you everywhere.” He said after a small pause. “That… if you really want to make it up to me.” He added with a whining voice as he was playing with his finger on Jin’s chest.
“I want to, Kazuya, but please understand that I can’t bring you if it’s dangerous.” Jin replied with a pleading voice, looking into the younger’s eyes and trying to make him understand that he only wanted him safe.
“And if I stay here, locked in an office, I will be safer? I will get more entertained?” Kazuya asked through gritted teeth, his own guilt and Jin’s stubbornness getting back at him. “Really, Jin! Don’t just let me in an office, thinking that I’ll be happy just because I’ve changed the environment. I still don’t do anything and it still bores me to death.” He continued with a sultry voice.
“I’m not doing this!” Jin raised his voice a little, angered by Kazuya’s insinuations - even if they were somehow true and even the older realized this.
“Oh, the princess is nervous.” Pi laughed and Jin threw him a look that made his friend freeze in his spot, not daring to say anything else.
“Leave us.” Jin ordered and the other one hurried to comply with his request, not really wanting to stay there and see if Kazuya will make the mistake of telling Jin what happened between them or not. He didn’t look that stupid to do it, Pi mused, but you never know what to expect. And he had learned that it was better to be prepared for anything.
“I didn’t say that I won’t take you with me anywhere.” Jin continued after the door closed behind his friend, like nothing happened and acting like Pi was never there in the first place. “Just not now.”
“And what am I supposed to do until you finally decide to take me with you?” Kazuya asked and slid away from Jin. He was thankful that Jin had sent Pi away, he had had enough with his mocking smirks and the guilt he was still feeling. “Jin, I’m not a puppet or a dog!” The younger said with an exhausted voice.
“No, you’re my lover and you should wait.” Jin said with a firm voice, obviously not allowing Kazuya to disobey him. “Why can’t you understand that I’m doing this for your own good?” he then asked as he stood up, sounding a little fed up with this discussion.
“My own good?” Kazuya muttered and completed in his mind - yeah, Pi wants to fuck me and it’s all for my own good. “I’m tired of waiting! More like, I don’t want to wait.” He looked defiantly at Jin, crossing his arms. “So better think of something that can really make me feel active and I refuse to have Pi as my babysitter again.” He said stubbornly.
“What’s wrong with Pi?” Jin asked, looking baffled at his lover, not being able to imagine a reason for which Kazuya would refuse his company. After all, the first time they met they seemed to become pretty good friends, Jin reminded himself as he cocked an inquiring eyebrow at the younger.
Kazuya bit his tongue. “Nothing’s wrong with him, but I don’t like to have someone stuck on my back all the time.” He said calmly, but you could sense the stubbornness in his voice. “Jin, is it that hard to see that I really hate to be like this?” Kazuya asked, ruffling his hair.
“Then can you defend yourself?” the older asked, completely ignoring Kazuya’s question and the arched eyebrow still present on Jin’s face. “Can you prove me that if I leave you alone, nothing bad will happen? Or it will be the same as with that Uchi guy?” he asked with what seemed to be an innocent tone though it was still angry and pissed off.
Kazuya turned his head away, averting his eyes from Jin’s. “I’m sorry I’m not as strong as you then.” He muttered, a frown creasing his forehead. “I’m sorry I am not fit for your fucking world.” The younger added, remembering Pi’s words and feeling enraged.
“I told you this since the beginning, Kazuya…” Jin replied with a sigh. He took one step towards the younger and took his hand into his, caressing it with his thumb. “I’m sorry, but I don’t want you to get hurt and this is what will happen if you stay here alone.” He continued, trying to convince Kazuya that this wasn’t the place for him.
“Then leave this world and come with me.” Kazuya said fiercely and grabbed Jin’s hand, digging his nails into his hand. “You don’t have to belong in here, not when I am with you. So… please, leave everything and come with me far away!” Kazuya begged for the first time since he had met Jin.
“Not this again.” Jin rolled his eyes and let go of Kazuya’s hand. “I told you that this is who I am and I can’t be someone else.” He then continued with a firm voice, like this was all he had known all of his life and all he’ll ever know. And besides, he was right. The minute he tried to take a step into the real world where people were led by rules and laws, he would be convicted and send to jail. He didn’t have a future in that world.
Kazuya looked defeated at Jin. “Then… if I can’t come into your world and you can’t fit into mine…” he said with a tired voice, words trailing. “… maybe us can’t exist after all.” He looked up at Jin, his eyes telling more than his words. After all, he was right, no? If their worlds didn’t suit each other, then how could their love survive? And it was stupid to be thinking of this when all he had done before was not to think that they could even have a relationship. But apparently, they could.
“So what?” Jin raised a nervous eyebrow. “You want to leave me?” he asked, gritting his teeth and trying to keep his calm. How could Kazuya even think of something like that?! But if he thought he could run away from Jin… then he would have to find out how wrong he could be.
Kazuya sensed Jin’s calm slipping away, but he couldn’t afford to go back on his words. “Then make place for me in this fucked up world of yours!” He said and his tone raised an octave. “Otherwise, you won’t even see me leaving, being too busy to go around and kill people.” He added with a hurt but angered expression.
“Kazuya, I’m not going to send you in places where you can get hurt and that’s final.” Jin said with a tone that said this conversation was over and that he wasn’t going to discuss this subject any more. “Do whatever you want, but I’m not going to put you into danger just because you’re bored.” He continued and turned his back on Kazuya, going to the bar to pour himself a drink. He really needed one.
Kazuya gritted his teeth as he rose and kicked an innocent chair, sending it to floor with a loud thud. “Then I’m going to find myself a way to entertain myself!” He said in a rage and walked with big steps to the door, opening it and exiting to the world that Jin had kept him away from. And Pi words’ flew into his mind - they’ll remember that they weren’t supposed to touch you because Jin had forbidden them. Well, he had endured worst, Kazuya thought bitterly and walked further.
Jin just sighed bitterly behind him and yelled after someone. “Shige, please follow Kazuya and make sure he doesn’t get into trouble.” He ordered as soon as the young man appeared in the door’s frame and then left immediately in search of Kazuya. Jin sighed again. “You’re really going to be the death of me one day…”
*
Shige continued to watch over Kazuya as the older from the two of them turned right and left, not knowing where he was going but still walking and not stopping even for a moment. He chuckled, thinking that maybe Kazuya was suspecting that Jin would follow him or come stop him from making a mistake. But no, Jin wasn’t the kind of person to chase someone when he knew that his prey didn’t have where to go. He would just send his dogs after it to bring it back and he won’t even move a finger for something that already couldn’t escape from him.
It had always been the same and even if Shige noticed a few changes in his boss, he never thought that he had changed. After all, Jin was the same ruthless and barbaric man that he had met so many years ago.
He sighed and decided to stop this before he would really get mad. Kazuya was only going deeper into their blocks and even if no one had attacked him or said anything because they had seen Shige following him and knew what this meant, it didn’t mean that nothing could happen and that they’ll be safe all the time. After all, Shige had his enemies too.
“Could you please stop going around in circles?” he finally said as he hurried his steps and fell in pace with Kazuya, stopping in front of him in the end.
Kazuya looked at the newcomer and clicked his tongue in annoyance. “Did Jin tell you to follow me?” He asked defiantly as he crossed his arms. “I’m fine on my own.” He then added and turned to walk in the opposite direction, away from the annoying dogs of Jin’s.
“You’re not fine at all.” Shige growled and caught Kazuya’s arm, turning him around to face him. “Look carefully around you, you idiot!” he added with a somehow angered and annoyed tone.
Kazuya quirked an eyebrow. “Oh, please!” He said on a mocking tone, refusing to follow Shige’s advice and look around. “And don’t call me an idiot, you don’t know me at all!” He said furiously and yanked his hand free from the other’s grip.
“I don’t need to know you to see that you’re stupid and too self-centered to think about others!!” Shige snapped and rolled his eyes at Kazuya’s idiocy. “What do you think you’re doing? What are you planning to win by running like an idiot where you could easily get hurt?” he attacked the boy with questions, not letting him answer before adding yet another one. “What do you think you’ll manage to do if those guys,” he continued, pointing to some men sneaking around them, “attack you and rape you? Why don’t you ever think before you act?!”
Kazuya smirked, not letting Shige see that his questions were affecting him. “That’s for the stupid who doesn’t care about me to worry about!” He replied with a mocking voice. “Not for you.” He then added, his hands balled into fists by his sides. “And if I get raped, who knows… maybe I’ll even enjoy it!” Kazuya said with an angered voice, hating the fact that this dog of Jin was preaching him about safety when he had lived around danger all the time. And he was even in love with the devil of dangerous things!
“If you’re the same slut at the beginning, you’ll definitely enjoy it.” Shige spitted the words with hate and disgust towards Kazuya, looking at him like it was too sickening to touch him.
Kazuya’s eyes hardened at this accusation. Did everyone have to tell this to him?! Did everyone know what he was like before?! Fuck, did Jin tell everyone…? The younger smirked yet again, this time with a bitter-looking expression. “If you know that much about me, then get the fuck away from me.” He growled and moved away from Shige. Screw everyone!!
The younger growled again, now really annoyed. “Too bad for you, kitty, because I don’t have a lot of patience.” He said to himself before raising his voice and yelling loudly the next words: “Catch him!” he ordered and Kazuya immediately found himself surrounded by more than ten guys.
Kazuya looked confused around him, his eyes darting from one guy to another. His body was tensed and ready to protect himself from whatever will come. “What’s the meaning of this?!” He asked Shige, his eyes wary and filled with anger and something else - fear.
“Well, I just thought you wanted to stay with me a little more.” Shige shrugged, sounding and looking too much as Jin did when he was playing his games. He smirked and approached Kazuya, entering the circle and facing the boy yet again. “And if you don’t want to listen, I’ll make you.” He added with an innocent shrug.
Kazuya glared at Shige and suppressed his will to hit that mocking face of his. “No need.” He spat the words, though it was obvious he would have rather done anything else than to listen to Shige. “I’ll listen.” He added, continuing to glare at the other and trying to ignore the snickers of those surrounding them.
“Then you’ll come with me and you won’t attempt to run away again?” Shige asked with a raised eyebrow, not really trusting Kazuya’s words but then he would have a reason to actually do something if the older wanted to try something fishy again. After all, they were still in their blocks and Kazuya couldn’t get away no matter what he did.
The older one frowned. “To come with you?” He asked and you could sense the worry in his voice. “Why?” He narrowed his eyes warily.
“To talk.” Shige replied easily. “There a little coffee shop there.” He then added as he pointed to the place, sensing Kazuya’s fear and not wanting to make him uncomfortable - who knew what he’ll do next.
For a moment, Kazuya’s wary expression changed to a mocking one. “What can you possibly talk with me?” He asked and threw a glance around them. “And I didn’t know you needed a herd to ask someone to join you for a talk.” He then added, not caring if he was offending the others.
“I didn’t know I need a herd to ask you to join me for a talk.” Shige shot back with a poisonous tongue.
Kazuya pouted and glared in the same time. “Ha ha, very smart of you.” He scowled and looked once more around them. “Are we going to that shop or are we going to keep entertaining this bunch of people?” He asked sarcastically, aware of the others’ sniggers and mocking stares.
“You’re the one who keeps us here.” Shige pointed out smugly with a lazy voice, looking at the others to show Kazuya that they had no intention to stop him after Shige had given his order.
Kazuya rolled his eyes, even more annoyed at Shige. “Then lead the way, smart-ass.” He said with a drawl and mocking in his tone. “You know that shop, not me.” He scoffed and crossed his arms, now looking bored.
“I just showed you where it is.” Shige cocked an incredulous eyebrow as he stared at Kazuya and pointed yet again at the coffee shop on the other street. “Are you blind or are you just plain stupid?” he then asked and all the guys burst out in laughter.
Kazuya blushed angrily and without a word he made his way through all those laughing guys and headed for the shop, not even looking back to see if Shige was following him. But could it be otherwise when Jin had him glued to his back? Of course not, Kazuya thought bitterly as he opened the door’s shop and looked around for a place to sit down. Usually he would have taken in account the design of it and would have made appreciative remarks, now… he didn’t even want to acknowledge that he was there and going to have a talk with a dog of Jin’s. The simple thought made his brain cringe.
“Now then…” Shige started as soon as the two of them were seated at a table and their order had been placed. “I thought we could have a little talk to come to a conclusion and to make a deal. The two of us.” He proposed while studying Kazuya’s expression for any change.
“A deal?” Kazuya cocked an eyebrow, looking mocking and suspicious in the same time. “What kind of deal can you propose me that would interest me as well?” He leaned back on his chair, thinking that maybe after all, this could get a little interesting.
“An exchange.” Shige replied, mimicking Kazuya’s action and settled better on his chair. “I do something for you and you do something for me.” He said with a little shrug, his eyes still fixed on Kazuya’s ones.
The boy chuckled as his eyes narrowed. “And what can I do for you and what can you do for me?” He asked, his fingers drumming silently on the table.
Shige pursed his lips, like he was expecting a more interesting answer than this, and looked a little annoyed that he had to spell it out. Honestly, he thought Kazuya was smarter than this, seeing that he went to a college and all that shit. But he was just standing there and waiting to be told what to do. Maybe some things never change, Shige mused as he decided to speak and clear things for little Kazuya too. “Lots of things.” He said with a mysterious voice. “For starters, I want you to stop running from me and listen when I tell you that it’s dangerous. This is not the first time I’m in this position and, frankly, I’m starting to get tired of running after you.” He ended with a bored sigh.
“You want me to listen to you?” Kazuya asked incredulously before bursting out into laughter, drawing the other customers’ attention. “And you’ve only ran after me today. It’s not like I’ve walked such a long way from Jin.” He then added, the corners of his mouth curling up sarcastically. “Okay, now let me hear what you can do for me.” Kazuya demanded, now feeling quite amused by this man.
Shige growled in annoyance. Seriously, how stupid could a person be?! “Are you really stupid?” he said before he could stop himself from uttering those words. Oh, well, the damage was done. “There was always someone following you and you know this very well as the boss had been kind enough to inform you of this particular thing.” He started, feeling that he needed to get this out before he lost it completely. Ignorance always made him mad. “I know your every move and I’ve studied you enough to know what’s in your head because, guess what, I finished Psychology too.” He smirked and looked even more arrogant than he already was. “When you ran away from boss at your college, I was the one to bring you back and, trust me, I’d have killed you because of the trouble you made me go through if the boss weren’t so fond of you.” He continued with a venomous voice, the hate pouring from his every word. “And please tell me you’re not stupid enough to let me tell you what you want from me or anyone else.” He finished his little speech with a mocking tone this time, vaguely remembering Kazuya’s request.
Kazuya shut all of his expressions completely, not letting the other see anymore of him. If Shige was the one who had been tailing him for a while now, then he wasn’t a person to trust, simply because he knew everything about Kazuya while he knew nothing. Shige had the upper hand in this case and for the first time, Kazuya felt like he had to thread carefully and not make a wrong move. That was why it was better to play the dumb for the moment.
“Well, you said I’m stupid already so, please, illuminate me with what I want from you or others.” He said with a calm voice, his expression indecipherable. He didn’t comment the fact that Shige had been following him or that he was a former Psychology student.
“Figure it out yourself.” Shige said with the same mocking voice as he stood up. He saw the waiter approaching them with their order so he fished some money and threw them on the table before turning his back on Kazuya and walking away. If that boy was stupid enough to have not noticed him the first time, it meant he won’t have many problems this time too even if Kazuya knew he was followed - and he had known before this too so there was no danger to just leave him to fuck himself.
Kazuya stood up as well and caught on Shige’s hand just as he slipped outside of the shop. “Will you tell me about Jin?” he asked with a desperate tinge in his voice as he looked at Shige, all of his pretenses now gone.
Shige studied Kazuya for a little time, looking like he really didn’t want to go back. In the end, he just sighed and went back to his chair, Kazuya following him and taking his seat. “What do you want to know about him?” he asked with a really curious voice, heading straight into business.
“Everything.” Kazuya hurried to answer, all of a sudden feeling greedy. “I want to know how he came to be your boss.” He added and although he might have appeared like not wanting to really know, his words proved contrarily.
“Then I’ll tell you this particular story if you promise me to listen when I tell you to not run. If I tell you that it’s dangerous, then you have to stick with me, okay?” Shige demanded before starting to speak about their past.
Kazuya nodded quite reluctantly, but he agreed nonetheless. “Okay.” All was for Jin.
“I met boss by accident.” Shige started, not needing anything else than the older one’s promise. “I went to Kurogin High School and I had a classmate named Yabuki Hayato. He was kind of a delinquent too but the funny thing was that he was the spitting image of Jin.” He explained and took a gulp of his cappuccino.
Kazuya looked a bit surprised. Two Jin? Then the world was on its way down to hell. “What?” he asked with an incredulous voice. “His brother?” He asked immediately, now really thinking that if there were two of Jin… Ah, a slight headache was starting on Kazuya. And Shige had only started telling his story.
“I have no idea even though I suspect that the boss might know the truth.” Shige replied with a shrug. “Anyway, I mistook Jin for Hayato and that’s how I came to know boss. Hayato wanted to stay at school saying that it was too bothersome to give up completely, but I quit high school with a few months before graduating. So I went to work with Jin.”
“You mistook Jin?” Kazuya asked with a curious voice. “He has the same personality as Jin?!” He then asked, not believing his eyes. What was this? Two people looking alike and on top, their behavior being the same? Really, who was Jin again?
“They were pretty similar.”Shige replied vaguely, but not wanting to give any more details. “In any case, this is how I came to work with Jin.” He clapped his hands to end this subject and also reminding Kazuya in the same time that this was what he had wanted to know and not about Hayato.
“Tell me more about Hayato and his relationship with Jin.” Kazuya said, not wanting to let this slide away. It was yet another person in Jin’s life, a person who he did not know and he was dying to find out more. He needed to know.
“Make me an offer.” Shige proposed with a malicious tone.
“Huh?” Kazuya stared blankly at Shige. An offer? What could he offer besides himself and money? Kazuya gulped and chewed on his lip. “I have money…” He trailed off, hoping that Shige wasn’t aiming for the other thing he could offer. After all, Kazuya was a man and Shige seemed straight all right or… everyone that worked with Jin swayed the other way too? Kazuya hoped again.
“I’m not talking about money, you idiot.” Shige barked, feeling a little offended by Kazuya’s words. “I’m a thief, I can take all your money and you won’t even know what hit you.” He snorted annoyed. “I was talking about another deal.” He clarified and then continued, having the vague sensation that Kazuya still won’t understand. “I want you to bring me into Jin’s office.”
Kazuya frowned. So there were still people who wouldn’t ask him for his body, this was a relief. “Jin’s office?” he asked confused. “Why? What’s there?” he continued, now suspicious enough of Shige’s reasons. Was this man hating Jin?
“This isn’t your problem. I just need you to get me in there.” Shige shot back, clearly not having any intention to confess his reasons for doing this.
“If you don’t tell me, I won’t bring you there.” Kazuya replied stubbornly. “I want to know about Jin and his past, but I won’t put him in danger because of this. And you don’t seem at all safe to be around Jin right now.” He continued, eyeing him with suspicious eyes.
Shige started to laugh. “Danger? For Jin?” he said through fits of laughter. “Honey, Jin could be tied down to a chair in a room full of men hating him and he would still be the one to be standing up after the fight.” He said with a smirk, a hint of pride in his voice for having such a strong boss. “I’m the last one you should worry about.” He said while flapping his hand, like this was a bad joke and dismissing the thought quickly.
“Then?” Kazuya seemed unimpressed by this show of Shige being proud of Jin. “If you want to go into Jin’s office, that means there’s something valuable to you. And for a reason, Jin had it confiscated. If that’s not it, then there is something in there that can make Jin fall from his position.” He continued his theories, seeming thoughtful and sarcastic in the same time. “Or you hate Jin for a reason and want to get back at him.” Kazuya leaned forward to stare into Shige’s eyes.
“Wrong.” The younger smirked with a pleased expression, happy to finally see Kazuya’s brain working. “There indeed is something there which I want but I promise you it won’t affect Jin’s position at all. Though it’s about him and Hayato and that’s why he had it locked up.” Shige explained, not being intimidated at all by Kazuya and actually starting to feel kind of excited. “Is that enough for you to know?” he then asked curiously, still asking for Kazuya’s help.
“Why do you tell me all this?” Kazuya suddenly asked, a smirk slowly forming on his lips. “Why are you so sure that I won’t tell Jin what you want?” he continued as he settled his chin on his now entwined fingers.
“Please.” Shige snorted. “Boss already knows what I want, that’s why he had locked those files. And seeing as you look, I see you already tried to open that drawer too.” He added, only now pointing to the wounds from Kazuya’s face and the small holes from his shirt.
And this had Kazuya’s interest sparked once more. “What’s your reason for wanting them?” he asked, leaning back on the chair. “You know mine and if you want me to get you in there, better tell me. I might be a bit more willing to help you then.”
“I don’t know why you want to know more about boss.” Shige arched an elegant eyebrow as he looked intensively back at Kazuya. “And I won’t tell you either my reasons.” He then added with a firm voice, sounding like this conversation was over. “Take it or leave it.”
Kazuya took a few moments to think over this. He wasn’t sure of Shige, but even without his help, there could be other ways to break into Jin’s office and retrieve what he wanted. So, if it was something dangerous to Jin, then it was better if he was there. “Okay, I’ll help you.” Kazuya agreed, his eyes determined. Yes, it was better like this, he could at least protect Jin.
“Good.” Shige grinned, satisfied by the older one’s answer. “Though you’ll have to be very careful at how you manage to do this. There is always someone guarding the entrance and you can’t pass him without be seen. And he doesn’t let anyone who doesn’t have Jin’s permission to go up there.” He continued as he explained his plan to Kazuya.
“Jin will bring me here tomorrow too and he’ll let me in that office once more.” Kazuya replied, his tone clearly saying that it was no problem for him to enter that office. “Does Yamapi know about this?” He then asked quickly, thinking that maybe once more Jin will let Pi with him. “Jin will probably let him with me again.” He shrugged though he was obviously bothered by this. “And if I ask Jin to let you stay with me, then… he’ll be suspicious and I dare to say he’ll change the place of those files.” Kazuya added with a sigh as he ruffled his hair.
“I don’t care how you do it, but you have to convince boss to let me become your new guard.” Shige replied, as if this was the simplest thing in the world. “And you have to keep Yamashita away from that place.” He then warned Kazuya, this would be a major threat for their plan if Pi were to stick his nose into their business.
Kazuya glared at Shige. “You talk like I’m Jin’s Achilles’ heel.” He scoffed, now crossing his arms. “I’ll try, but I don’t guarantee that Jin will let you around me like he does with Yamapi. After all, he trusts him.” Kazuya sighed, biting his lip. “Can you say the same thing?” He eyed Shige with a distrusting look. Jin surely had a reason to keep Shige away from those files and he doubted that he’ll let him anywhere near them again.
You are his weakness, Shige refrained to say, seeing that Kazuya was still unaware of why was Jin so protective with him. “Jin trusts me too.” He said with confidence resounding from his words. “He knows I wouldn’t betray him and the proof for that is that he sent me to keep you safe.” He pointed out even if it had to be an obvious thing by now.
“But not enough to give you those files, I assume.” Kazuya snickered with a quick flick of his tongue over his lips. He didn’t comment anything of the fact that Shige was his safety guard; Kazuya didn’t feel like doing it. “But I’ll see what I can do.” He shrugged a little. “But before I give you the files, I want you to tell me the story between Jin and Hayato. And be sure I’ll look at those files too.” Kazuya added with a voice that didn’t take no for an answer.
Shige shrugged, showing that he didn’t mind if Kazuya read those documents too before he continued his story. “There’s not much to tell.” He said with a lazy voice. “They met in Hayato’s first year of high school. They started to hang out and Hayato was almost expelled from school because of this. Then a new teacher came and helped him finish school and even convinced him to give up at his ways. But… that life wasn’t for Hayato.” The younger explained and sighed a little, his shoulders slumped at the memory of his school years.
Kazuya snorted. For delinquents, the life they had currently wasn’t the right one for them. “Yeah, and he decided to join Jin afterwards?” he asked with a heavy sigh.
“Yeah. And it worked pretty well for him for a few years. Jin and Hayato looked inseparable and even Yamapi didn’t seem to matter for boss as much as Hayato did. Maybe it was the fact that they looked so alike, maybe they really were brothers, I don’t know why.” Shige sighed again. “But Jin had dotted on Hayato like he did with no one else.” He confessed and then leaned his head into his hands which were now on the table, feeling how a headache was slowly coming back to him. It hadn’t been a pretty image to witness what happened afterwards.
Somehow, this sounded like him and Jin, Kazuya thought and felt chills going down his spine. Has there been someone else before him? Someone towards whom Jin had had the same feelings as he claimed to have for Kazuya? If he would have heard this a few months ago, he would have clearly said that they were crazy and that Jin was incapable of feelings. But now… now, he wasn’t that sure anymore. So it came as no surprise to Kazuya as he asked Shige with a frown: “Were they lovers?” And it was funny and kind of creepy if you think about the fact they looked alike. It was like having sex to another version of yourself. Kazuya shook his head slightly, chasing away the images that had suddenly popped up in his mind.
“That’s one of the things that I want to find out too. Especially because Hayato already had a lover.” Shige replied, now seeming a little mad by this turn of events. “They seemed to be too close to not be, but then again, they also seemed too far away to be.” He added and looked intrigued by this dilemma too.
“Had a lover?!” Kazuya asked with his eyes widened in shock. “If Jin liked Hayato… then I’m pitying his lover.” He said with a sigh. “But where are they now? Hayato and his lover, I mean?” The younger looked at Shige with curious eyes.
“Hayato is dead.” The younger answered, facing Kazuya’s curious eyes and watching them change their color at his words. “And I don’t think it’s hard for you to know how he died.” Shige continued with a mocking voice.
“B-but… why?” Kazuya asked this question with a small voice, not understanding why would Jin kill someone he had loved. And somehow, it made him think of their future together. Will they end the same? In a way or another, killing each other? Kazuya smiled inwardly, realizing that this end was most likely.
“This is another thing that I want to find out. And the answers to all of these questions are locked into Jin’s drawer.” Shige said and looked determined to do it as his eyes met Kazuya’s. He couldn’t give up now, not when he felt that he was so close to the truth. And he had to do anything to know it too for he couldn’t let down Ryu. He had to tell him why his lover had died, why did Jin kill Hayato when everything seemed to be working so fine between them.
“God, this is all so messed-up.” Kazuya chuckled to himself, looking a bit lost. “And… did Jin kill Hayato’s lover too?” He asked looking a bit fearful to hear the answer. Really, what reasons one could have to kill two people? Why, Jin, why?
“Ryu is alive.” The younger answered and remembered to take another sip from his coffee which had gone cold by now. “Hayato had been careful to keep him safe, though I don’t know exactly how safe he was from all of this considering that Jin is… Jin.” He said, in lack of another word to summarize the older one’s personality.
Kazuya’s heart eased a little. “Can I meet him?” he asked and bit on his lower lip, looking unsure. He suspected that Shige won’t want such a thing, but he had to ask. He felt like he needed to talk with this Ryu and… He felt like doing so.
“You want to talk with Ryu?” Shige laughed. “No, I don’t want to bring him back to this world again. He has enough problems just because he keeps in touch with me.” He said his decision without flinching. “And I think we should go back, the boss will start suspecting something happened if we don’t appear soon.” He said and stood up to leave the table. Just then, as if Jin had heard them talking, Kazuya’s phone rang.
Kazuya took out his phone and pondered whether to answer or not. After all, he had left Jin in that fucking office because he couldn’t understand Kazuya’s need to be closer to him, to know more about his lover. And now he was plotting with Shige just because he could find out more about the Jin he didn’t know. “It’s Jin.” He said to Shige and looked at the screen flashing. With a sigh, he decided to answer. “Yes?” He inquired with a calm and non-expressive voice. After all, Jin still pissed him off a little.
“Where are you?” the older immediately inquired his lover with an anxious voice.
“Why don’t you call your spy and ask him?” Kazuya bristled right away, annoyed that Jin would have the nerve to ask him such a thing.
“I want to hear it from you.” The other one shot back, not sounding surprised at all that Kazuya knew he was being followed.
Kazuya clicked his tongue, obviously annoyed by such an answer. “Now, you heard from me, so bye~” He sing-sang and snapped his phone shut. He looked up at Shige, anger in his eyes. “I’m going home today.” He replied to the other who looked kind of amused.
“He won’t give up that easily.” Shige pointed out and he didn’t even have time to finish his words before the phone started ringing again.
“I know.” Kazuya said with another sigh, now the anger gone. “Want to test him?” He then asked Shige with a mischievous tone. But he didn’t wait for Shige’s answer and he pressed the reject button. Kazuya beamed childishly at the other.
Jin called again and Kazuya laughed. “I think I love him for this.” He said to Shige and answered the phone, obviously more relaxed and happy. “Yup, baby?” He greeted Jin with a hum in his voice.
“Had your fun?” Jin replied with a growl in his voice.
“Not yet. Want me to end this call again?” Kazuya chuckled, though you could sense a small threat in his words.
“Do it and I promise you a night that you’ll never forget, babe.” Jin replied calmly this time, though the hint of threat was also present in his voice.
“Ohh, it almost sounds tempting.” Kazuya sang, his voice a bit ironic. “And I was kind of forgetting the nights with you…” He then sighed, pretending to be dramatic. “So can I hang up on you?” He said with a cute and devilish voice.
“You don’t have to hang up on me to have me all to yourself for a night.” Jin answered, the smirk from his face obvious even in his voice. “Meet me in an hour at your apartment and we’ll see what we can do if you missed me this much.” He then added, the perverseness resounding as he sang happily into the phone.
Kazuya laughed. “But I’m not sure I’ll let you, mmm…” he replied, seeming almost thoughtful. “You see, you left me alone today and you need a punishment.” The younger added with a malicious voice. “But see you at my apartment, we’ll settle this. One way or another.” And Kazuya snapped shut his phone, looking at Shige with a smile. “Now, he won’t call.”
“No, now he’s too busy to be horny to think at anything else.” The younger pointed out with a knowing smirk. “Come on then, I’ll go with you until you leave our blocks safely.” He continued and turned his back to Kazuya, walking slowly to let him catch up.
Kazuya laughed and followed Shige. Well, the boy did have a point.
