While I might stand to regret this some day, here it goes: FUCK MAKEUP.

I've always thought it sucked, and then when I saw a good friend in it for possibly the first time ever, I realized that people for the most part look so much better without it.

I always thought you looked best in the morning just woken up with that "wha-what?/fuck off" look on your face in the weird yellow t-shirt and pajama pants, with your horrible morning breath, kinda like kix, the cereal...
I never understood it myself.
Also you were cute without trying...
Wait it's St. Paddy's Day!? It's 11am? I'm gonna get drunk and beat the irish!

America has lost faith in symbols? I think the opposite. We love the image. If you mean no one can write anymore, or, no one believes that they can convey their feelings within the framework of concise, accurate writing anymore, and ad libs to a ridiculous extent, that I agree with.

Also, we guys lose a lot of time to looking good, too. My hair takes eight hours to prepare, if I have my way. Sometimes I have to pack it into seven, or even less, depending on when I get to sleep.

I guess I meant more that we want tangible evidence of everything: a photo to prove you had fun, a copy of the cd to prove you enjoyed some music somewhere (even if you never listen to it again), a diamond on valentine's day, you know, commodified love, all that neo-Marxist stuff. We can't deal with the abstract anymore.

Actually, I guess that's the opposite of what I said.

Eh, pedants like myself have no place on LiveJournal.

how's this for pedantry? arrestthisman March 18 2005, 18:36:48 UTC
Try it backwards: now, the signified means the signifier, rather than the signifier proving the signified. The religion is about the icon, rather than the icon being about the religion.
