You know it's rather sad that my first entry on LJ has to be about hatred, but I fear, if I don't let loose the bile it will over take me.   I hate Twilight ( Read more... )

Pfft. We've discussed this ad nauseum, so you know how I feel. Still, I guess eventually we'll be assimilated. Haven't you heard? Misogyny and teen marriage/pregnancy are the new brand of feminism!

Girl, I wish I had the answer to that! Sadly, I don't. But yes, the accidental "disturbingness" of the books is quite blatant to me, as is the anti-feminism of the whole series. Personally, I find the latter quite insulting. I was raised to believe that as a woman I am an equal human being who should have the same rights and get to live life to the fullest just as much as any male. I deserve to go to college, to be my own independent person, to pursue life dreams, to not have to get married and have children and be a housewife if that's not what I want. Twilight speaks out against ALL of that! I'd like to thank Stephenie Meyer, who, through the use of her manipulative, controlling Edward and weak, stupid, overly dependent-I-live-only-for-Edward Mary Sue Bella, has brought womanhood forward into the 17th century! And I mean that with the utmost sarcasm. For the life of me, I CANNOT figure out why these piles of shit are so popular. Stephenie Meyer is fucking insane! I honestly think that woman has a screw loose!

you know it's funny that you called Smeyer insane because Rob Patt, the guy who plays Edward has called her mad in two separate interviews. I makes me mad that crap like that is sooooo popular and great books like L.J. Smith's NightWorld goes unnoticed.

Hahaha! I freaking LOVE Robert Pattinson for that! He is now even cooler in my book! My roommate and I were LOLing hardcore when we read that he's said that he really doesn't like Edward. He hates Edward as much as we do. I think he'll really play up the whole self-loathing part of Edward. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks Stephenie Meyer is completely insane! She is a fucking madwoman! Ah, Twilight--your primary source for necrophilia, pedophilia, bestiality, suicidity, anti-feminism, emotional abuse, mysogyny, and excrutiatingly disturbing hell child birth scenes! Yeah, I can name some books that are getting ignored because of this shit, too. For example, The Chronicles of the Necromancer by Gail Z. Martin and The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong. Two obscure but good starts to series that look promising! Fuck you, Meyer!

Honestly, that she wrote a book like this doesn't bother me to much (after all there are shelves full of romance novels where the sweet helpless woman changes the rough dangerious man) its that fact that they are so popular that bothers me. And they are targeted towards impressinble young girls, where they can do the most damage.

Amen. It's evil to consider that people could be so inconsiderate to take such a poppy tween book so seriously. What are they thinking? That kids full of angst would want to watch movies about vampyre kids full of angst? Pssshhh! What dummies!
