They are making a movie out of Where The Wild Things Are.

(This was my honest-to-god first reaction. I read "the news" in some bulletin and I typed this into a reply. I had intended it to be short and to the point, but then I looked up and this is what was on my screen. I then copy-pasted it into a notepad and did not reply to the Poster of night-ruining bulletins. I did however, save the rant for you.)

Rant. Short and Sweet. )

I completely agree with you. The entire industry these days is unoriginal, 'based on', and flat out of it's mind. There is no sacred to these people. There is no explaining that 'hey this is just fine as it is' because there are so many swarmed kids waiting to watch Cedric Diggory thread a brunette a long for thousands of pages transferred onto the screen. They are literally striping the imagination from everyone; there is always some displeasure, 'oh thats not how I imagined it at all.' And that feeling RUINS everything, but they simply do. not. care.

Believe me, I want to be a filmmaker, but god strike me with lightning if I ever become so unoriginal as this manipulation they are doing. Also, I blame Harry Potter.
(LotR doesnt count, they were awesome.)

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Check this:

"Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor Howard Berger (The Chronicles of Narnia) turned down offers to work on the film four times. Although the book inspired him as a child to work in special effects, he felt filming it was a 'horrible idea'."

FINALLY, someone with some sense. I'm happy there is someone in a position to say this shit in the media that feels the way I do.
