Hmmm...I don't think my brain can cope with having to think about this right now, but I definitely think it warrants thought.

And once again I feel worried that I still haven't started setting myself up to be self-sufficient when the apocalypse comes. It always feels weird to say it like that, but I do honestly believe that ugly is coming and whether it involves zombies or not it is going to be tough and being prepared may be the difference between surviving and not.

I so do not need to add this stress to my life right now though, so I think I'll stay in ostrich mode a bit longer and hope that it isn't the end of me.

well...the good news is that there are still old folks alive who remember how things were done before the internets.

The literal infrastructure will still be there--the crops, the vehicles, the workers to get things from field to consumer...

It will suck for a while, but it won't be the end.

Except maybe for some damn emo kids or something.

I think there are also folks at most of the larger companies that back their information up on secure hard drives. I mean, if the Internet goes down--even a significant portion of it--my mortgage is, unfortunately, unlikely to be lost.

the substance of my little rant there is that the net is .. as much infrastructure in a military sense as dams or bridges, railway marshelling yards or tunnels, fuel or arms depots ( ... )
