I think she just liked your last name. Although it would have been conniving (and frankly entertaining from an observer like myself) if she made out this character to be a horrible person. Like "The assassin had almost finished the job, but at the last minute, she smelled that awful fishy smell that could only be one person: Velen" and shared this with the class.
