So, if you were paying attention, you probably noticed that I didn't come anywhere close to my 50 book goal in 2013. More like 12. Oh well. This year's reading goal is quite a bit more modest. First of all, I'm looking at trying for 20 this year, which will be a more modest increase, and also I have a plan ( Read more... )

Personally, I'm all for quality of books and not the number read. I mean, you could blast through 50 Babysitter's Club books in a month, but what's the point? Of course, this is self-justification because I read way fewer books than I used to now that I'm writing more. :D

Go you for taking on the whole Wheel of Time series! I read the first six or seven and then stopped until the series was completed. I will be doing a start-to-finish read at some point, but I don't think it's going to be this year. Happy reading!!!

Yeah, I had read up to Winter's Heart (which, I believe, is volume 9?) before Knife of Dreams came out. I find that I tend to work fairly well to deadlines, though, so I have high hopes. I'm currently just over halfway through book one, though, so I need to pick up the pace.

I too suggest no focusing on the numbers of books read, but rather on the act of reading itself. I might not read as much as I once did but lately I have been reading more for pleasure which is pretty awesome in and of itself, so there's that! :)

If I actually wanted to count the books I've read, I don't know how accurate the metric would be, as I'm reading more YA and graphic novels these days, so those tend to be quicker reads than some other formats are.
