I forgot to mention that I saw a bald eagle the other day.  At least I think I did: big bird, white head, brown body, a little bigger than a crow.  Bird-lovers: what do you think?  Unfortunately, that's all I have to go on, because it literally flew right by me.

Eagles are a LOT bigger than a crow.

It could have been a juvenile one, though.

Eh, I don't think so. I think it was too small to be a grown one (apparently they are 3 ft tall? 96 in. wingspan. It wasn't that big. The juveniles have a very different color pattern.

The color pattern was very distinct. It really took me by surprise.

Have I mentioned I live about a mile from a bird sanctuary? A little less as the crow flies. ;)

An osprey perhaps? It is another bird of prey, somewhat smaller than a bald eagle. It has a lot more white on it, but you might not notice depending on the angle. You would be unlikely to see an osprey at close range unless you were near water.

That looks like a real possibility. I recall seeing the upper side, not the lower.

I hope I see it again. Preferably camera in hand.
