  • Great start to the new year

    arwinday Jan 01, 2009 23:30

Sated, totally blissed out, and happier than I can ever remember being. I'm sure there are goals to state, objectives to chase, and important accomplishments to achieve in 2009. And, when I get a moment to climb down off of cloud 9, I'll post them. For the moment though, I'm just cherishing the New Year's/Christmas we enjoyed today -- it was an ( Read more... )

    arwinday Dec 31, 2008 15:29

We'll be out the rest of the evening, so I wanted to take a moment now to wish you all a Happy New Year! May we all make 2009 our best year yet.

  • It's good to be home

    arwinday Dec 28, 2008 17:36

Visiting my mom and Herb (i.e., my parents, for all intensive purposes) for Christmas was really nice, but I admit it's so good to be home (there's nothing like a visit to my mother to humble me -- and, I admit, sometimes I don't like to be reminded of where I came from (though getting home does remind me just how far I've come)). Like any visit ( Read more... )

  • Merry Christmas, everyone!

    arwinday Dec 23, 2008 21:36

Only three of us (me, my boss, and her boss) made it into the office today - (and, yes, Seattle had not plowed a single street between our home and Hwy 520). I was so glad to have a few minutes to touch base with them (and have lunch together at McCormick & Schmicks!) before the holiday. I submitted my vacation time for Wednesday and Friday, only ( Read more... )

  • More snow pictures

    arwinday Dec 22, 2008 17:16

Last day working from home, I think - but, a beautiful day to hike the loop trail in Discovery Park. Hardly any walkers out enjoying the afternoon sun - but plenty of skiers and even a couple with snowshoes.

Now, ( pictures in the low afternoon sunlight )

  • Feeling lucky

    arwinday Dec 22, 2008 07:46

As expected, we're working from home again today. SDOT has recommended drivers stay off the roads if at all possible (even 520 and I-5 are snow-packed and slick), and buses are running at 50% of regular schedules. I can't help but feel extremely lucky, and grateful this morning.

  • What else - more snow (but we're making the most of it!)

    arwinday Dec 21, 2008 12:55

We did decide to go to our friends' party in the U-District last night. After waiting an hour for a bus to get us home from downtown, we threw sleeping bags into the car and decided to make the "Hygge" come true - by drinking and eating with our friends, then sleeping over till about 8:00 this morning. Getting home was a bit tricky, with probably ( Read more... )

  • Brrr . . ., Bach, and Breathe

    arwinday Dec 20, 2008 13:33

We have a brief respite from new winter weather today, so we got out this morning and made the most of it. Breakfast at Salmon Bay Cafe, a stop by Fred Meyer for staples and chili fixin's (tomorrow's looking like a snowy, windy, cold, blustery day), coffee at Sweet Spot Cafe, then over to the Indian market on Aurora for gulab jamun and kheer mixes ( Read more... )

  • Discovery Park in winter

    arwinday Dec 19, 2008 11:16

Right as I was finishing my last post, my skip-level manager IM'd me -- she suggested I spend the day sledding, enjoying a fire in the fireplace, and drinking wine (after all, how often do we get some enforced downtime?). She's right (and, in less than six months, knows me well enough that she gets that I need some kind of permission to goof off ( Read more... )
