I still owe an Otaku Omaha update. That'll have to wait, but summary is : Good stuff. Met a lot of awesome people, and I hope that we've planted the seeds to a beautiful relationship together between NebKon and Tornado-co...I mean Otaku Omaha ( Read more... )

I still love Cay's suggestion of getting NebKon staff and OO staff in a room together and working out our differences. No one really wants to see us feuding - it leads to bad PR and the attendees will see it.

I think if Kearney wants to start their own con, Nebraska can handle it; but we need to sort out this rift between the two existing cons first.

(BTW, I've been on the OO forums since the con, trying to smooth out whatever wrinkles I can. I think it's helped somewhat.)

I agree.

This shit needs to stop. Period. We can't keep having this bad mojo between the two.

Hell I like a good number of the OO staff myself (Rob Zom-I mean Joe. XD). I don't really hold any ill-will towards OO either, and I never have. :P

Second: YAY BAR AND GRILL! Now I can be somewhere else besides my damn room. >_>

Oh god damn it, my place is not your effing hangout. j/k ;)

Congratulations on your new place there Dylan. Good luck on your motivations and whatnot. If Nick D says the place is a mess though, I am within walking distance to be his accomplice in crime. XD

Never made it to an Otaku Omaha yet, only stuff I hear is via the grapevine. Does not help that work has me chained down most weekends in part though.

If you need help moving, let me know.

It was a fun trip. Their hotel is kind of....not good, to put it kindly, but that's not within their control, I hear word of a multi-year contract. But they have a brilliant amount of spirit and enthusiasm, it reminds me a lot of our rabid fans.

They will go far. :)

I would definitely start a new LJ dedicated to the writing gig. It helps keep the stigma of all of our fucked up lives out of your writing ^_- and might help you focus on the writing itself. Kinda like when you sit down to work you’re writing as _____ instead of your Arydrall persona. Keeps things in perspective. I’m all for a fantasy thing, I really love traditional fantasy settings. Something about guys and gals trucking around in gleaming armor with big-ass swords, and spindly mages with spell books full of arcane insanity is just too cool to pass up.

Otaku Omaha and NebrasKon will probably always have a rivalry going. I hope to get to the point where it is no longer so venomous, but because we are but mere mortals, personal feelings will probably occasionally lead to things getting nasty at times. We just have to work past it.

One final note. I’ve been thinking about that dual-GMing prospect. Drop me a line about that, I wouldn’t mind trying that out....

You're probably right there on the lj bit. I have some interesting ideas, a setting that's been growing in my head for the last month that I can't seem to let go of. I'm going to give it a shot once things settle down....well, settle down more than they've been lately. ;)

I don't know if there's going to be a 'bitter' rivalry...maybe the friendly kind of 'ha ha, look what we did better than you' kind of thing. I think some lines of communication are open now that were previously closed. Time heals all wounds, and I'm going to remain optimistic and pray that things improve.

Let's talk about the dual-gming thing sometime. We could have some fun. ;)

Exactly. Friendly competition is fine; but the bad-mouthing back-stabbing thing we have going on right now needs to stop.

We're all otaku here. There's no reason why we can't be civil. :)
