In which I analyze a total failure of logic and knowledge.

"Like I have said before in other posts, Beta is in no way reflective of what Blizzard have completed so far. Most of the recent beta changes are focused on tuning and those bugs that everyone reckons are around? They aren't around in Blizzard's current iteration they won't release to the public. Beta now is just there to tune classes, instances ( Read more... )

Why ask why? suba_al_hadid September 27 2010, 17:15:21 UTC
Try Bud Dry! Erm, I mean, you might as well ask why the sun rises in the east as asak why idiots behave like idiots. The obvious answer is, of course: because they're idiots. That's why we call them idiots. A better question might be: How many idiots are there? We know there must be some - the definition of average automatically implies that there are people who are below average. Therefore maybe we want to know how far below average does one have to be in order to engage in a flamewar with insufficient facts? I started t his thought thinking that idiots might be two standard deviations below average, but the flamewar consideration may widen the results.

My two cents - you mileage may vary :)

I have a dream that some day I can deconstruct someone's rant to their face and they'll have this epiphany and be like "Oh, shit, you're right, my bad." Sadly, I think that's always going to remain a dream.

I suspect the problem is that we often think of ourselves as 'average' so that those idiots must be below average. We aren't. Those idiots are the ones within two standard deviations, both sides.

It certainly explains why there's so many of em. ;)

You're talking about people who use LOL and NOOB as real words, even in regular speech. Of course they're idiots. I'm not much of a video gamer, but I have had some curiosity about WOW; but I don't trust that other players wouldn't treat me terribly since many gamers have a superiority complex. That, and I have ADD when it comes to video games. I get bored quickly.

Not only the training and all, but a lot of the work isn't easily divided into seperate tasks you can complete simultaneously. You can't design the items until you know what level of power to put characters at, and you can't decide the hard numbers until you've worked on the formulas. You can't do art until you've decided the storyline and characters and locations, and you can't do that if you aren't familiar with things.

None of these are entry level "come and type in some numbers" jobs.
