Wow. I feel dumb now.

For the past 8 months or so, I have been kinda pissed off at my laptop. The touchpad stopped working that long ago, and the computer was less than a year old at the time. I had declined the warranty stuff I was offered when I bought the thing, though, so I determined it was my own damned fault. I did decide to never buy anything from Future Shop ( Read more... )

...you know that Toshiba laptops come with a 1 or even a 2 year manufacturer's warranty?

I'd never get a Future Shop or second party warranty ever again either, but manufacturer warranties, especially from Toshiba or Sony (not HP or Comcrap) should be decent.

Yeah, but the reason it was on such a good sale was because it was a refurb. Usually they're just as good as other laptops in my experience, as long as you treat it reasonably well, particularly if you're reasonably decent with computers. Which, until this point, I always thought I was...

Bwah hahahaha!

Of course, there was this one time when I asked a geek friend of mine to help me with my wireless keyboard, because it (grrr!) wasn't working, and after much troubleshooting I worked out that I had, um, put the batteries in backwards.

My aunt recently paid a large housecall fee to a technician who came to her house to fix her broken fireplace remote.
Strangely enough, it too had stopped working right after my aunt changed the batteries. Same problem too.
