Two of those weekends in one month. I don't remember that ever happening, for as long as I've been here. Does that kind of chaos better serve the Deities' aims, I wonder? Is it due to sensory adaptation, to the fact that curses don't shock us as much as they used to? One would think bringing new Citizens into captivity would compensate for ( Read more... )

As for the curses, well, I'm only speaking for myself but I still find them pretty shocking.

I don't mean to imply that curses aren't a problem, or that novel ones can't be shocking. But it's psychological fact that when you've been exposed to a stimulus long enough-- no matter how bizarre-- its intensity seems to lessen.
