Bloggies.

I kind of can't believe that The Pioneer Woman won for blog of the year. I mean, it's a good blog, and updated frequently, but the writing is so-so and the photography is also so-so. I guess that means I need to get my ass in gear and do something better.

Not a fan of Pioneer Woman blog. If I want a recipe for something made with salt, cream and bacon, I'll just go over to Martha Stewart's website where I don't get dosed with folksy wisdom, gratuitous photos of cowboy hats and rambling, boring writing. I also really loathe Dooce, whom lots of people adore and reference in conversations as if she was a person they know in real life. I have heard that Heather Armstrong of Dooce fame makes around $50k a MONTH in advertisement revenue from her blog.

But then again, I could just be cranky because I woke up with a dog butt pressed against my cheek this morning.

The thing about TPW that gets me is that she doesn't edit her photos. Pick the best frame from that sequence of twelve, and condense the three-word captions into one funny one.

Dooce has a special place in my heart because she wrote with frightening candor about depression at a time when I needed to read that kind of writing. Also, she posts her hate mail.

I need to hone my writing chops a bit so I can make my very mundane life exciting. My work blog could be really hilarious if I didn't have to self-censor it.
