downsizing giftgiving this year. is there anything new this year to give on a budget? also my father has been diagnosed with diabetes. we used to get him socks, gloves, and boxes of chocolate covered cherries, but now he can't have the sweets. what to get him?

we ended up watching the lsu/alabama game late on saturday with friends who have kids. all night, the 3-year-old was forcing the writer to drink faster by tipping the beer up into his face. it was awesome. he also brought us beers from the fridge and could discern high life from modelo.

the best part about moving is being able to recycle halloween costumes. i just yanked out my favorite today. i sewed it myself for a custom fit. i had to wash it, so maybe it shrunk a little. it fits perfectly everywhere except the bustline. insert joke here. maybe i should just wear the harry potter costume. whatever i do, i'm going to bring ( Read more... )

i need a deadline. i've got a bunch of projects with fluffy start and end dates. one of those projects is creating a portfolio of my work. what's your favorite online portfolio?

During the semester, the writer gets pretty serious about writing, grading, and reading for class. There are speakers and visitors. There is stress, there is grading portfolios. I was at a party this weekend and someone asked me for knitting help. I'm overjoyed and she's coming over tonight. She's working on a hat for herself with antlers.

I just lost 5 lbs by not working out for two weeks. Sadly, the inches lost was probably all muscle. Sure, there were some salads and beer reduction strategies in there, but it was mostly not working out.

i'm glad that all of my best friends are just as ambivalent about sonic youth as i am. yes i can rock out to day dream nation once every 5-10 years, but that's about as excited as i get about it.
