flatworm reproduction is very brutal. it's basically a battle between two worms, and loser has to bear the burdens of motherhood. it's a process called penis fencing. the name really speaks for itself. the first worm to make a successful jab wins. it can take hours and leave the worms with gapping holes all over their bodies.
