Exercise

I've added jogging to my exercise routine to increase endurance. I jog a bit after every boxing workout then do 2-3 miles on the weekend. I just did 2.5 miles in 30 minutes, so a 12 minute mile. This can be improved on but woah I just ran 2.5 miles without stopping!

i'm actually thinking about taking up running. my gym membership is about to expire (school membership) and i think i wouldn't mind running to get my cardio in, even though i would really miss my elliptical. Where do i start with this? all i remember is that it always hurt like a bitch and i hated to do it.

I've always hated jogging. I've added it to my fitness routine every now and again but I've never really enjoyed it because it's not something I'm good at, so I think I know where you're coming from. I know some people like running on tracks but personally I prefer jogging around the neighborhood because there is a start and finish point instead of going around in circles. I've been using mapmyrun.com to create path and track the distance. Devin got me a shuffle so I can just clip it onto my clothes instead of carrying around the first generation ipod I was using before. While I'm jogging I try to remind myself to just enjoy the music, enjoy the moment, and try not to think about much further I have to go, because if I do it feels too much like a chore.

do you have special shoes or anything? The thump-thump-thump of my feet on concrete is what always turned me off. it hurt so badly, both my ankles and the bottoms of my feet. i couldn't stand it.

I went to a snails pace (http://www.runasnailspace.com/) to get shoes. You run in the store and then they suggest shoes that provide the best support for the type of activity you're doing and where you place the most weight on your foot. I don't know how accurate it is but the shoes I got there seem to be fine for me. I don't have the pain I had in my old shoes, although that might just be because I needed new shoes.
