I am officially in my second year of medical school! One down, three to go.

I'm almost done with my first year of medical school! Only 3 more exams to go: microbiology, pathology, and my clinical skills practical. I'll be done by Thursday afternoon and I leave for the Dominican Republic Saturday. Now I just need to find a bathing suit.

I'm having a major freak-out moment here. They just posted our OMM practical exam schedules and I'm in the first group. That means I have 4 exams from Friday of this week to next Tuesday. Parasitology/Mycology on Friday, 2 neuro exams on Monday + 6 hours of clinical skills lecture/small group, and then the OMM practical on Tuesday. No one will be ( Read more... )

I just failed my first medical school exam. Exactly one week after receiving an award for exceptional academic performance during my first year of medical school, haha. Spring break was last week and it was definitely not long enough. I was too lazy to catch up on studying, but I did manage to catch up on my sleep. It was sooooo nice to spend time with the family. The social aspects of medical school are driving me nuts! It's ridiculous how gossipy my class is. I shouldn't be surprised; at 210 people it's smaller than my high school graduating class. My parents just called me to let me know that one of our family dogs, Isabella, has congestive heart failure. They're estimating 1-6 months left. It's just so depressing. I'm giving up on trying to make friends in med school. I'm frustrated. At 26, I'm older than most of the other students and I don't have much in common with a lot of them. The few people that I do connect with are married, with children, or commuters, so it's difficult to find time to hang out. The group of ladies that I thought would become good ( Read more... )

I went to volunteer orientation at the Capital Area Humane Society yesterday and found the most perfect pup. His name is Rocky and he's a 2 yr old rott and german shep mix.
