From what I understand, Eriol was as powerful as Clow, though, so I'm not sure he could have cast a spell on Eriol without Eriol knowing. And I'm not sure why he'd want to hide Sakura/Syaoran from him anyway (he figures it out toward the end of CCS anyway). But, I'm sure CLAMP will explain most of the major plotholes eventually.
Well, casting a spell on Eriol would be a bit difficult since they kinda can't exist at the same time, but he could cast a spell on himself so that he forgot certain things before the final spell. Only that, like you, I see no reason why he'd possibly want to do that.

Actually Eriol never said he didn’t know about Sakura and Shaoran to be destined together, he said that Clow thought that Yukito would love Sakura, but chose her brother instead. Eriol even gave Sakura some advice when they said goodbye so that she could make up her mind about Shaoran.
What is interesting here is what happened to the Sakura in the Clow ruins that made Clow Reed substitute the real father of Sakura (Fujitaka)? I think real Sakura and C! Sakura memories are somewhat fake or if they are real that is because her parents were no longer alive and Yuuko reversed Clow country time . Maybe real Sakura was raised up by Clow Reed and she never knew Nadeshiko and Fujitaka because they paid with her memories (like c! Shaoran did). Or maybe I’m flying too high?

It was somewhat implied that he didn't know who would be Sakura's most important person, though.
About the possibility of a deal between Fujitaka/Nadeshiko and Yuuko that caused Sakura to forget them, it's not unlikely. Though I'm a bit afraid that this Nadeshiko will also meet an early death.
We had no confirmation about the "Reed" part, but yes, the big WTF in this chapter -is- Fujitaka. I knew most royalty in fiction hate their status, but there's a little difference between being bummed at being royalty and freaking going off to play Indiana Jones. Furthermore, where did they get a replacement Clow-ou?
... Better stop here, lest the crack shall overrun my thoughts.
OKAY, first Fujitaka is Shaoran's adoptive father and Clow is Sakura and Touya's... and now this...WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON????? AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT'S BRAINDEAD?
Clow Reed was the father of Sakura from Clow Country and Fujitaka did take Syaoran in all the way back in Chapter 1....now with the time space thing did the events get mixed....
The Return card didn't exist in the manga. (Which's a pity because episode 28 is made of win.)
Clow's "death" in the CCS world can't be have been faked because he left "evidence" behind (unless the space-time collapse goes that far back). If Clow Reed is Clow-ou, maybe he faked his death as Clow-ou and then returned to the CCS world and split himself. Or maybe Clow-ou faked his death anyway, to be reunited with whoever it was he was longing for. Now that we know he wasn't the original Clow-ou, it's possible that he had a life he left behind so that he could take Fujitaka's place, and wanted to go back to that life.
Thank you so much for the translation! To the question "What is Clow-koku?" in holic Yuuko said once that Clow created a country in another dimention (well I'm not sure she got that far but that's the way I understanded it ^^)
That could explain why they speak Japanese if the whole country was created by him... But how could he create the inhabitants? O_o Did Fujitaka eat the forbiden fruit (instead of making pa'hyu with it XD) and had a little Sakura with Nadeshiko ^^ Did he even rest on the seventh day?! XD
The Fujitaka thing is also kinda confusing, did he changed the memories of Sakura himself or was it Clow? Well, Shaoran must know the answer because he still remembers Fujitaka was the king.
Anyway, sasuga CLAMP! Such a headacke juste trying to understand!
To the question "What is Clow-koku?" in holic Yuuko said once that Clow created a country in another dimention (well I'm not sure she got that far but that's the way I understanded it ^^) Actually, she was talking about the original Mokona. Though morgif-kun below might be on to something.
I think neither Clow-ou nor Fujitaka directly rewrote Sakura's memories. Maybe it's related to the bad thing that happened to Sakura (when Shaoran first talked about Sakura's cleansing ritual, I thought the "bad thing" had happened seven days before her seventh birthday, but the day seems to have gone by all right).
