My take on this is that Sakura found it difficult to foresee what the future would be while she was carrying Syaoran because as long as his existence basically hadn't been "confirmed" by his birth yet, the future would be in a state of flux. Kinda like what happened with Yuui and Fay, maybe: the Valerians weren't expecting twins, but lo and behold, 2 kids were born.
