Mental problems can be hard. Trying to get others to understand what you're going through can often be harder. Thanks for the insight. I know of quite a few people who use their art to express themselves in ways that are unable to do in person. Creativity is one of the best outlets for our voice there is, even when that voice is sometimes unpleasant.

well said - the truth of the matter is that yes, indeed, it can be much harder sometimes just attempting to get people to understand what i am going through than actually going through the thing itself... i want to create an insanity dictionary, or a madness glossary, or something of that ilk. i want a disclaimer i can just hand to people in the midst of an attack.

i am heading downtown today to be in my favorite cafe, surrounded by good people and art, to decompress and just write.
thanks for supporting/appreciating the joys of creativity.

My girlfriend was very schizophrenic for the first few years of our relationship (to the point of seizures and panic attacks). It was always very odd in public when one of her attacks would come up as the reactions of most would be to try to ignore it or get away from it, on some occasions there would be those who would try to help, but in many cases they would be too afraid to really be much help. I think that having those around you, while they may not completely understand what you are going through, who aren't afraid of the situation and just want to help you out can often times be the most therapeutic. I know from my experience that I really wanted to know what she was going through, even if I couldn't completely experience it.

i hear you on that - and thank you for sharing. i'm glad you are so supportive of yr girlfriend, that you honestly want to know what she is going through and how you can help... i have been so blessed to have lovers like that myself and i can tell you that it does make all the difference.
