Last night when I should have been sleeping, I couldn't resist this commentfic prompt for "any fandom, any characters," and the lyrics to "Rooftops and Invitations" by Dashboard Confessional. I've never heard the song before and am not exactly a Dashboard Confessional fan, but the lyrics just screamed ALEX at me. Or at least, den-of-thieves-verse

True story: I used to have ninja climbing boots. The ones with the separate toes. My high school boyfriend got them for me, to match his own, and we would go hiking in them because we were TOTAL GOOFBALLS.

This was spectacular - both in terms of being excellent and talking about how Alex uses the spectacle of the chase. I love her here, how savvy she is and how, underneath, there's so much want and complexity. Not my usual pairing (you may have noticed) but this packs a lot of lyrical punch in such a short space.
