Not much to report, really. I've spent the past few days familiarising myself with some of the research data on the mainframe. Riveting stuff, if you're into amino acids ( Read more... )

They don't know the imporance of amino acids? Can I help you with some tests then, if they aren't?

I know! Considering the vast variety of alien species we study, the fact that all carbon based life has a common fundamental building block makes my job much easier, let me tell you! Add to that the sheer variety of R-groups, and I'm going to be able to make all kinds of identifications that nobody ever bothered to investigate (OWEN!). With enough time and effort, I might even be able to make evolutionary connections, and perhaps even create our very first system of alien taxonomy!

Um, I'm rambling again. Sorry. :)

I wish you could help me. This is going to be a big job for one person, perhaps even a lifetime project. I'm practically giggly about it, though. Such a geek! :)

I have to admit I always thought amino acid was a kind of hallucinogen. I'm sure I've taken heard of a brand of LSD called Amino. Or possibly it was E. Did you know they have a Harry Potter brand of Ecstasy? Ravers are odd folk.

Your hair looks lovely! I'm going to need a clip soon, mine's getting a bit long. So much to do, so little time...

I HAVE SCISSORS IANTO. During the war all the chaps helped each other out.

Jack, please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not sure I'm entirely confident about you holding blades that close to my ears.

I know it wouldn't be intentional, but...my ears won't grow back!

There's a barber's not very far from the Plass, I'll nip over next time I'm on my way home.

Hey I'd be careful with your ears.

Did you see the paper snowflakes I made for the tourist office?

I practised cutting them out on regular paper before using sparkly paper. I could practice cutting Hart's hair before doing yours. You hold him down and we'll get a donut or something to muffle the screams.

You look great with your hair did!

I love it when you explain things to me.

If I look glazed, it's only because I'm not paying attention. I'm thinking about pizza, Ianto, saving the world or something like that. Sometimes when you talk I don't hear a word you say at all!

Don't worry though, I'm not ill I'm okay, I'm just not interested.

Thank you, Jack. I am quite pleased with my hair. And I don't mind in the least if you're not interested in my research. I understand that not everyone is as much of a swot as I am. :)

Yeah, it's so dull (your research), I can't take more than a few words on the topic.

Let me know when you can use this to build me a bomb.

OR a poison!

HEY I just interested myself in medicine for a second.

Jack! Shame on you! I am not going to make you a poison and never will do!

However, if you would be so kind as to finally get around to authorising the release of the Retcon formula to me, I'll be able to start replenishing our stock. We're running low.

I thought amino acids were some of the ingredients in those probiotic yogurt shooters I've been chucking down my gullet in the mornings.

These things in the fridge are yogurt, right? They taste like strawberries.

Your hair looks fantastic, Martha.

I fell asleep holding Jack's hand. Sorry about the drool on your lapel, boss.

OOOO!! Geeky projects = geeky love.

In Uni, I'd get all giddy and excited when I did research (History/English major=lotsa research papers). My roomies would look at me funny when I'd start rambling about something interesting I'd find. I feel you're geeky pain. :0)

It's so ridiculous, isn't it? Do they expect us not to enjoy our work?

I bet when you asked them about their own research they'd get just as geeky, though. ;)

Yeah, they would. :0)
