Current Projects: The Case of the Glowing Mummy

May 24, 2009 12:10

I have been up all night working on this project. I'm sorry I was so snippy about it yesterday (YES JACK, I'M ON MY PERIOD. DEAL WITH IT). Not only was it very rude of me, but as it turns out I did not give the mummy the attention it deserves. I suppose that once my surface scans detected human remains, I was less than interested in going ( Read more... )

I wish I was smart enough to understand all of that :( But I can send you some virtual hot chocolate for the PMS!

If you ever do feel your interest in humanity waning, we could always sic Gwen on you. She's brilliant at telling us how sociopathic we are! She almost never does it unless we ask anymore, though.

I can put the scroll and case in lucite with a neutral dormant gas to prevent decomp, but I'll need to mount the scroll on acid-free board so you should take any samples you need first. Would you like it framed? We are full service here at Torchwood Three Archives.

She sounds like a well-traveled old girl, probably a Rift Vic. If we do get to return the body, we'll need to "dress her up" as a murder victim. I'll start planting rumours of a serial killer who embalms their victims. Be sure not to get any DNA on her, if you can; we don't want anyone thinking you're a murderer, eh?

Ianto, the woman whose body this is, is still alive.

Oh.

Well, then we should probably not attempt to return her remains to her family.

And giving them to her would probably cause some kind of paradox, wouldn't it.

Would be a little bit funny, though.

(That'll teach me to skim the ends of posts.)

Funny? I think you're the one due for a humanity refresher with Gwen, honey. :)

Wow! What an exciting and interesting find, what a life she led. No wonder she was such a challenging specimen. I think you need to all work flat out to find out what happened to her, my poor Donna.

Dr. Jones! Your skills never cease to amaze me! Brilliant absolutely brilliant! Thank you ever so much for doing further tests ( ... )

I'm well aware it's not supposed to happen! The bilocation issue alone is worrisome, and the paradoxes just start snowballing from there.

From what I know of Donna's history, I suspect I would appreciate a sample of your DNA. As I've said, I've refrained from asking the Doctor about such things. It strikes me as disrespectful. But if you're volunteering, I'd be grateful.

hat's precisely what I told Theta. I fear it may get worse. Far worse. *lowers voice* From what I comprehend, you have faced the worst of the worst Time Lords. His deception knows no bounds. At first I thought Bilis Manger was behind this, but this is beyond his abilities ( ... )

You can trust my discretion, I assure you, Mr Holmes. If nothing else, taking a tissue sample from you places this in a doctor-patient context, and I take confidentiality very seriously indeed.

One question I feel I must ask, though, as it might be relevant. Forgive me, but when was your last cocaine injection?

The very idea that someone could survive having all their internal organs and blood removed, and their entire body dessicated, is horrific!

Any help you could give me with the histology would be wonderful, thanks! The body's in such dry, brittle condition that it was all I could do to tease out DNA samples. My best results came from hair remnants, dura mater and bits of gum I scraped off the roots of the teeth. That's why I repeated the tests so many times. My skills are stretched to the limit with this one, I must admit!

Sorry to cut in on Holmes' telepathic frequency here. Don't mind his bluntness; he can't help it. He means well though. He has this thing with the way Theta treats some of his companions. I stay out of it. That's between those two. However, its not my job to defend him. He can do that himself. I will say that he senses something unique about you to be extending a hand and his emotions like this ( ... )
