Oh, this is marvelous. Thank you so much, Mystery Author! I love your take on Argella, with her determination and will - it's very much how I see her. I love the background with her relationship with her father, especially the glimpse of her childhood. It's great seeing her POV of all the events we know as history - I especially love her interaction with Rhaenys and how her dislike of the dragons pervades the rest of the story. There's a fantastic balance between Argella letting Orys in while getting exactly what she wants, too - I love that she's got terms for their marriage, even though she's really in no position to negotiate. And I just really love how you've portrayed the Orys/Argella relationship! His kindness to her, his respect for her father... I love seeing the slow development of their relationship as they travel back to Storm's End and all the little things - him saving her father's sword, his agreeableness to all her terms. I thought I'd commented on this when I read it yesterday, but apparently not.
This is such a wonderful story of the forces the shaped Argella Durrandon into the woman who defied the Targaryens only to be completely humiliated for it. I especially loved her relationship with Orys Baratheon and how she negotiated back some portion of her previous power. It fits with what we know of Orys without dismissing Argella herself (which was one of the things that annoyed me about TWOIAF and its depiction of that whole sequence of events). Also her interactions with Rhaenys were priceless.
