Panic Attack At Work

Feb 17, 2017 19:41

I have infrequent meltdowns which most of the time I can recover from after about an hour or so. Unfortunately today I had a bad panic/anxiety attack at work and an ambulance had to be called for as I passed out. I had to be taken home in the ambulance ( Read more... )

definitely go to counseling and they can teach you stress relief techniques. also, ashwagandha is a natural supplement that has really helped me with anxiety attacks.

Have you tried GABA supplements? They seem to be effective for anxiety for many people. Everyone is different, but they aren't very expensive and it might be worth a try.

I'm aspgergers and going through the menopause at the moment which has given me anxiety attacks for the first time in my life. Waking up in a hot sweat at 2.30 am with a pounding heart and feelings of panic has sent me off into many an attack before now. I've got control by teaching myself breathing exercises which I use if I feel an attack happenign taken up cross stitch again and make sure I go out hiking once a week. I also swear by Quiet Life tablets although Kalms are not bad either (both are herbal tablets for stress and available from Boots).

Thank you for this advice, I don't know whether it is the menopause or not. I'm 48 at the moment and still suffering from bad menstrual cycles which coupled with my Asperger's makes me as my world is collapsing around me at the moment. I too, do cross stitch which does help me enormously. I walk 2.2 miles per working day as I have to walk from a bus station to my place of work.

My boss was very kind to me on Friday, he was him who mooted that I may have autism in 2008. Other colleagues were there to assist.

I wish I could get over this...

Sounds like you are going through the Peri-menopause (which is what I am doing too). This is (as someone once explained to me) PMS on steroids ALL THE TIME with all sorts of other nice symptoms thrown in. I've had two 7 week waits for a period and then this time it came on the dot and was really painful and had me in tears. I thought I was going mad with all this until I talked to a paramedic who was treating a student who had a bad panic attack. He asked me my age and told me to google and then I realised what was going on. This article makes me smile. Reading the comments at the bottom of the page is very eye opening about anxiety too.

Thank you for your advice keristars.

The second paragraph rings a lot of a truth for me but the one on Friday was a bad one, since the ambulance had to be called for and usually I can recover within a hour or so. Colleagues were all told back in 2008 that I was diagnosed with Asperger's and since then they can easily forget that I have it because I "mask" the condition.

Seriously I don't want to be on medication, I've had anti-depressants before and they didn't work for me, why should they work for me now to be honest. Talking therapies such as CBT have helped but I feel am raking over hot coals from my past such as bullying at school. But I need someone to talk to, even if it means talking to Samaritans for half an hour.

Ever considered something like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00SZGJIEA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I find that light therapy helps a lot re stress and it certainly helps me to wind down at night :-)
