This is wear we get the ultra gorgeous mammen axe with the inlay. This dude was a viking-sexual like Justin Timberlake is a metro...

That is metal-thread brocaded cardweaving. If you believe Caommhin, the central area would be two threads of colored wool, and two of linen. I have NO idea how that works.

Vera pretty, thanks for sharing!

Also, I can get this exact pattern on an 'inkle' weave. It totally is not dependent on a four-hedle set up. But cards make it easier in some ways.

Really? You think the card-woven structure is easier to brocade? I would be interested to hear why! I get confused and annoyed by the amount of available threads, since brocading takes all my available brain power even on an inkle :)

Yeah assbjorn November 22 2008, 04:12:00 UTC
What she said. I got confused about halfway through, and I wasn't even trying to do anything fancy.

I didn't say I thought that it was easier to brocade. The cards make it easier to keep track of, for me at least. I've brocaded on both card and 'inkle' and it's about the same. My point is that it is possible on both. Cards help me keep track of things.
