Signing a petition, not buying gas for a day, or only buying from certain companies will NOT lowe gas prices. I'll try not to go on any tangents here

oil refineries are making record amounts of profit right now, not to mention the fact that they've been shut down and delayed this year more than usual. Also people justify the prices by saying that in comparison to inflation, gas has risen less than many other things (I think they used the example of milk). The problem with that is we don't exactly buy 15 gallons a milk every week...
Look, I never said what the oil companies choose to do is ethical, but it's their right to do it. Ethics and Legality are two very different things. Sure, they overlap quite often, and opinions on one are affected by the other.
But if we make every unethical act illegal, there will truly be no freedom left. Without liberty to fuck up, there can be no liberty to choose to do the right thing.
I totally agree man. It's just tough to avoid paying the high price of gas when you're in a touring band or have a job that requires you to drive 90 miles one way to everyday (like my Dad does).
Something has to be done because a lot of folks really have no choice. Sure, it'd be awesome to just pack up and move closer to the metro-Detroit area to shave mileage... But that's not really an option when the market for homes is not so hot in Mid-Michigan right now.
Lower and middle class folks are suffering more than anyone right now. I can't even imagine trying to support a family on minimum wage right now with the price we're paying for gas. It's sad that it's just as bad of a habit driving to work as it is smoking...
