I think it's the Allegra-D that making your heart to go so fast. I to get very high pulse under stress, when I give blood my pulse is 95-105, so half the time I can't give. Pseudoephedrine make me have a panic-attack. Pseudoephedrine is used to make Meth (Methamphetamine) also know as speed.
I've had the *exact* same side effect from the Allegra D from time to time. Always the Allegra D. It's good you called your dr, and if it gets worse, call again, but I have found sitting down, and breathing slowly helps, also having husband rub my back and remind me to not panic, it will pass faster if I stay calm

There are now generics for a lot of drugs. I found out that Allegra-D must have lost its patent, as they gave me a generic for it last time I picked up. Cost me $3 on my plan, and seems to work ok. (My insurance automatically swaps my drugs out for generics unless the doctor specifically says "do not substitute". Sometimes this is great, sometimes, not so much. Ask your dr before asking the pharmacist, if he or she thinks there is any reason to NOT go generic on something you take

You shouldn't need to take decongestants for more than two weeks straight. If you need chronic decongestion then taking plain antihistamines with nasal steroids is far safer than taking sympathomimetic decongestants and you won't run the risk of "rebound congestion" where you become congested when discontinuing decongestants no matter what.
Along with your meds, I'd like to offer something I discovered about 15 years ago. Did you happen to be drinking a cola of some sort? I discovered I have a sensitivity to the phosphoric acid--and erythorbate acid--often found in colas (and for some reason, Lipton's bottled Green Tea). The reaction you had was exactly what I experienced. I did my research and once I took myself off those drinks it stopped. So be sure to check the labels on what you're drinking.
I'd suggest trying Arius (sp?) instead of Allegra-D. It's working fairly well for me (and Reactine and Claritin both have never produced results for me). As well, maybe ask about allergy shots? They're expensive, too, but supposedly, if you're on them for a year or so, you can eventually stop them. I've never been able to move below Advair 500/50 + Singulair since my asthma got bad a year ago (any time I do, I start flaring every night and being unable to walk up stairs and coughing so much my ribs ache), so I can sympathize with the expensive meds (before insurance kicked in, half of my monthly paycheck (literally) went to asthma drugs - I have insurance now through work, but I shudder to think what my premiums will be when I have to change jobs in two years). And I live in Canada, where drugs are subsidized!
