In which Clare feels a bit greedy

Dec 04, 2011 18:06

Lots of people seem to be doing these :)

1. Post your Holiday wishlist to your LJ. Items can be fannish or not, small or extravagant. Have fun!
2. Look around your flist and grant any wishes you can to OTHERS. This includes sending actual gifts if you want!
3. Re-post your wishlist two weeks before the holiday as a reminder.

Ooh, Laura/Gaius vid! I do know of some vid tutorials. Hmm. A good place to begin is here.

The post that really helped me gets started after I had read too much. http://permetaform.livejournal.com/166861.html

I still use this post: http://talitha78.livejournal.com/157026.html

It does depend on whether you have a Mac or PC and how big your HD is. I know it's a lot to sort through, but these are my two favorite newbie vidding posts. :-) And I think you'll appreciate what the first poster says about 'bloody mindedness'. It takes plenty of that to vid!

Thank you! I will get on and take a look at these. I really want to learn how to vid, but I'm not sure I've quite got the eye for it. Gonna keep trying though :D

-Fluffy extended Adama family fic. The fluffier, the better.

I have no idea where you might come across anything like that. ;)

Me either ....

I'm eagerly awaiting the next Pythia/NotWinter/Games-verse stories. Believe me.

Well, I've got several Laura-themed things going. Is there anything in particular you'd like? I'm already writing Laura/Lee for the charity drive.

Also, I can help you with your fic. :)

ETA: How are we defining extended Adama family?

Yay! No, nothing in particular. Whatever emerges from your brain is good with me. And yay again for Laura/Lee!

Anything that has all our favourites acting as a family in some way is what I'd count. The ones I usually read are things like miabicicletta writes, with Mom, Dad, the kids, Uncle Saul etc, but any permutations of their various relationships are all good. I just like fluffy ensemble family-esque stuff when I'm in a holiday mood.

Well, I can do Dad, Dad and the kids. :D Or Laura and Lee as Mom and Dad. :p

If you can find some way to turn 'em all into some big adorable messy extended family and be cute about it, I'm happy, in whatever form you decide to have that take.

I've been using Movie Maker, just because it looked easy, but I do have a copy of Sony Vegas somewhere, if I can find it.

A lot of my irritation with trying to get it to work comes from Movie Maker, I think. Getting things to sync up properly. Maybe if I switched to Vegas I'd be less annoyed!

why movie maker, WHY?? XD
vegas is definitely better and easier when you start to understand it =) don't be fooled by all the possibilities it offers, it just looks complicated but it's not =)
i'm here if you need help

Another kid crafty thing that is lots of fun is to make a dough mosaic.
1) To make the dough: mix 2 cups flour, 2 cups salt, and then stir in about 1/2-1 cup water with food coloring or paint, adding a little at a time until you get a dough about the consistency of cookie dough (biscuits?) (Sorry for the American measurements. Basically the proportions are 2 parts flour, 2 parts salt, and 1 part or less colored water.)

2) Gather dry beans, pretty rocks, bits of broken jewelry, beads, etc.

3) Put a large spoonful of dough on a piece of cardboard or paper plate. Flatten out with your fingers or shape if you'd like.

4) Stick the beans and beads into the dough, randomly or make patterns or pictures.

5) Let the finished mosaic sit out. The dough will dry in a few days and will be pretty and sparkly.

I run a small children's museum and this is a great activity for lots of ages. Little toddlers enjoy sticking things in the dough while older kids and adults can create really pretty mosaics.
