Catching up... or just babbling.
I haven't posted in ages. I've thought about it a few times, but either I couldn't think of anything to say or what I felt like saying seemed whiny, boring, and long winded. I guess I stopped thinking of this as a journal, and started thinking of it as more of a... newsletter... that hardly anyone reads. O_o Um... sort of.

Lent, lint, and pepperjack.
I don't get Lent. I've seen a bunch of people over the last few days declaring what they're giving up for it, and I really don't see the point. If it's a truly bad thing you're giving up for Lent, and you start doing it again when the forty days are up, does the forty days you spent not doing it really count for anything? My brother and I were insanely bored on Saturday (as was one of our friends who decided he might as well come be bored with us instead of staying home) so we rented The Sorcerer's Apprentice. And bought enough gummy candies to make ourselves ill. The movie was fun. the gummy overload... not so much.

I dreamed I was a time traveling detective last night. Me and my Watson-like assistant were investigating a series of disapperances that spanned a decade or so, and we jumped back and forth in that decade collecting notes and evidence over the course of our investigation. Yay for clean clothes!
Well the goal... er... I guess it's more of a rule, really, that I set up last week seems to be working well so far. I haven't bought anything else and I have four necklaces (counting the Princess Tutu one I mentioned) almost finished. One just needs a clasp on the back. Sometimes I confuse myself.
So I've sort of made a few resolutions for the new year in my head, but haven't written them down. Well... I suppose printing out 12 blank calendar pages with places for adding up weekly sales and such, and filling out the first one with the appropriate days and "Jan '11" at the top sorta counts as writing down that I plan to keep better track of ( Read more... ) -

Mmm... potstickers. I love those things, in spite of the fact that they seek to do me bodily harm every time I make them. I suppose I can't really blame them. If I were being dropped into a pan of hot oil, I'd probably lash out at whomever was doing the dropping too. As if I need another project... :)
I've been thinking for a while that it would be fun to come up with a story and take pictures to go with it and have it printed by one of those companies that... well... print things. Maybe with little spool dolls or tiny clay figures of anime/manga characters escaping their books and running amok in my kitchen. ( Read more... ) -
In which I'm reminded that popular doesn't mean good.
So... after hearing lots of good things about the Dresden Files, I managed to get my hands on a copy of the first book a while ago. I was... rather disappointed, actually. I really like the concept, and there were bits and pieces that struck me as interesting or funny, but overall, it was nowhere near as awesome as people made it sound.
