There was a mistletoe at the winter party, and it took Inui a moment before he remembered the use of this bit of cultural miscellany. The one hanging it was a stern-looking person with glasses, Kite of Higa. Inui took a half-step back, mind clicking swiftly. It seemed to run counter to data that Kite would hang mistletoe at an all-boy party, especially when it wasn't their culture.

The half-step took Inui accidentally beneath the mistletoe. Kite's glasses gleamed for a moment as he looked down, completing the decoration. "Stay there," Kite growled. Kite clambered down while Inui stood still in confusion. Surely...surely not.

When Kite ran a hand into Inui's hair to keep his head still, Inui was still in denial.

What was undeniable was the hard press of lip to lip and the little chink of lens to lens.

Inui was speechless when Kite stepped back. His mouth opened and closed.

"Happy New Year."

Atobe was horny and pouty and Oshitari was preoccupied. It sucked. He kept text-messaging his cousin every other second, on New Year's no less. Finally Atobe stepped behind Oshitari and ran a hand under his shirt, making him gasp.

"Buchou?"

Atobe took Oshitari's phone and tossed it into the zen fountain.

"-- Buchou, I have all my numbers on that --"

"I'll replace them," Atobe said, waving his hand, and then tugged Oshitari to face him. "It's almost midnight," he said sweetly, "and if you don't kiss me, I will personally see to it that Oshitari Hillbilly knows all about last summer."

Soon Atobe was bent backwards, much to his satisfaction.

Kite stared unabashedly at Atobe's ass as he stood by the fire, long fingers looped around a champagne glass and not a tennis racket for a change.

"I can practically feel your eyes burning my bottom," Atobe said testily, turning to give Kite an amused glance.

"Turn back around," Kite snorted, "I was enjoying the view." Instead, he walked closer, looping an arm around Atobe's waist and dipping his head.

"It's a good thing my family is all in Italy, ahn? We are undisturbed..."

Atobe removed Kite's glasses and leaned up, and Kite bend his head enough to take Atobe's lips with his.

Then someone's phone vibrated between them. "It might be mother," Atobe murmured, frowning and fishing it out of his pocket. He spotted the message and sighed, smiling just a bit.

"Who was that?"

"Nobody."

"Who was it?" Kite's gaze was fierce.

"...AAhh...Oshitari."

The phone was nestled neatly in the coals a second later, and Atobe was pinned to the bed.

Jackal sat, bald and serene as Buddha, in the middle of the party. He had a beer in one hand and a tennis magazine in the other, while a third hand was miraculously free to hand Bunta candy, Sanada his lost hat, and Yukimura his medicine. Kirihara, trapped between Niou and Yagyuu as they squabbled over his head, stared at Jackal as he handled everything with a touch of humor and absolute aplomb.

"I have to take a whiz," Kirihara said finally, breaking out of his corner. He did so, then returned to plop next to Jackal.

"How do you do it?" he asked Jackal, "how do you handle everything so peacefully?"

Jackal winked. "I'll tell you alllll my secrets for a kiss," he snerked.

"...What? Uh...no!" Kirihara protested, but he didn't struggle much as Jackal leaned in and kissed him softly.

Hm, that felt...not so bad.

"Awright. Your secrets." Kirihara's lips were kinda tingly.

"Beer," Jackal said promptly, offering Kirihara some of his.
