Past 3 months in numbered list form:
1) Ob/gyn rotation : I caught babies, I cut out an appendix!, I have never talked to so many pregnant women in my life
2) ER rotation : chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions
3) Surgery rotation: I CUT OUT A GALLBLADDER!!!
4) really really needed vacation: I went to Glacier National Park!! ( Read more... ) -
half hearted trumpet call...boards!
A month. A whole month of studying. Really studying. Not like back in high school when I would sort at glance of notes, half heartedly, half paying attention, not really worried one bit about the exam the next day. I was smart after all, whole needs studying when you’re smart? Ha. Studying is for the dumb kids…

brains, runny poo and Rocktober!!
So it has been a while since I have posted anything. Neuro sort of took over my life. The one thing I learned during that class is that I am not in fact going to be as smart as a brain surgeon when I grow up.
Though one of my insightful classmates pointed out that the problem with brain surgeons is: they spend their life learning more and more ( Read more... ) -

School started yesterday. After just two days of lecture it is looking to be a rather rough 8 weeks. We are in our neuro-psych block - and as it turns out the brain is a rather complicated thing.
Anyway I have a quick story from our lectures yesterday which I found at least mildly entertaining.

the curtain gods much be crazy
So the curtain gods officially hate me. However despite their best efforts to CURSH my spirits, in the end I have emerged triumphant!!

Well anatomy is over! Over! I have learned names and functions and locations of each and every muscle, organ, blood vessel, nerve and bit of fatty tissue that there is in the human body!

seasons, human hearts and misadventures in the real world
I forgot about these things called seasons. I’ve had four years without living through this transitory state between hot, green, pool-side, mini skirt weather and cold, skiing, snowy, sock and shoes weather. It’s apparently known as fall.
