I nearly had a stroke the other day when I thought I broke my laptop... in exactly the same manner I broke the previous one. I knocked the monitor against a chair and the monitor's colours went all screwy-- the black parts of images displayed as green and the white parts as pink. No physical damage to be seen and when the output was externally ( Read more... )

Ahaha. You sound so hilariously and properly British in this. Also, 'sellotape' - whoa, does that bring me back.
Glad to hear that the computer is all fixed up! I think mine is on its last legs as well. And then I realized that it was only so slow because there was all sorts of csrap that it had picked up that a good virus scan could clean up. I think I'm investing in a good scanner this week. sigh
Hope to see you tomorrow!

Also, please to be noting my much improved typing on the iPad. It's still slowish going, but no more gibberish! Hurrah!

you have an iPad now??? Or do you mean your iPhone?

heh, if you mean the sellotape, well I have no problems calling commercial products by their brand, since that's what both sellotape and scotch tape are! there's a bit more resistance in adopting other things like the pronunciations of "vitamins" and "aluminium", lol.

I use AVG for virus-related stuff and it's pretty good! It's free, last time I checked and will scan webpages as well. Then I also use adblock to prevent any advertisements from popping up from sites I visit.

iPad! I gave into consumerism and bought it a few weeks ago for clerkship. Reading reference materials on it is a dream. If the iPad were animate, it'd be an amazingly attractive best friend who is infuriatingly bullheaded in certain areas who you sort of wish you could make out with.

I have Malwarebytes and it's been good. But I think my firewall is shot.will have to reconsider that and clean the dust out too.

Congrats again! ♥

Yep! The relief that washed over me when I turned the computer back on after I took it apart was indescribable, lol.

That's really amazing! Mine just shut down out of nowhere (never happened before) and I wouldn't even know how to disassemble the thing :|

(I'm back in London now btw!)

Hmm, it might have been. I just hope it doesn't happen again!

Yeees, finally made it over :D I should be free most of the time, don't have a job yet and at the moment I'm just busy with trying to sort things. So I guess whenever suits you and I'll see if I can make some time!

Well, I've got typical work hours, so how about a Friday evening? This week or next? Whereabouts are you living, or do you know yet? I work in (veeeery) northeast London, but we could meet up easily anywhere in central town or east London (e.g. Whitechapel).
