Hi everyone... I'm due to have a baby in the next month and I'm having trouble deciding on a sleeping arrangement. I want to have the baby in the room with us and very close to me for at least six months, but probably much longer than that. I would really, really like to co-sleep but my husband and I are both sleepwalkers and talkers and I won't ( Read more... )

Another option would be to get the Arms Reach and put an extra pad (like a folded up towel?) between the mattress and the fitted sheet. We used the Arms Reach until my daughter was old enough to climb out of it.

I'm starting to consider the Arm's Reach again... a friend told me using an extra pad didn't work for her, but she has no hesitation to bed-share. Maybe a pad would work for me.

I honestly didn't think that the thin pad was a problem. My daughter has a portable crib at my mom's house and it's just as thin!

I sleep walk and sleep talk. My son, now 3.75 years old. is a sleep crawler and talker. He co-slept until a year ago and now sleeps on the floor next to us.

Actually he crawls on his bed in his sleep. We use pillow and a futon on the floor to keep him safe.

We used a Moses basket on a rocker stand until she was past 6 months old. Really until she was too tall for it. We didn't have to worry about her rolling or sitting up because my daughter needed swaddling until about 9 months.

This. We also used a moses blanket on a rocker with my daughter swaddled inside for at least the first six months, maybe longer. VERY VERY compact and she slept great in there. The basket also made it easy to carry her around the house when she was alseep without waking her. It also worked perfectly with our angelcare monitor. I move around a lot in my sleep and sleep deeply so we did not want her in the bed until she was a bit bigger. The rocker stand was great because if she woke my husband or I could just reach an arm out and rock her a bit and soothe her back to sleep without her fulling waking.

Me borowed a pack n play from a friend and our daughter has ALWAYS hated it and refuses to sleep in it.

We have the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper and love it. We put a nice cushy mattress pad on it and a fleece sheet and the baby seems super comphy. I love it because I could pull her into bed to nurse and then slide her back over and have my own space to sleep. It was nice having the baby so close and not worry about smushing her or having her kick me all night long.

At 5 months, she decided that she wanted to sleep in her own room (after waking up every hour when we were co-sleeping), but I still have the Co-Sleeper up just in case she changes her mind.

Where did you get a mattress pad for the arms reach? I have one and would love to get a pad for it because my daughter seems to be getting uncomfortable now that she is heavier and moves more!

Is there any way you could rearrange your bedroom to fit the full size crib in there? Like maybe move some of your bedroom furniture into the baby's room temporarily?

I did nurse my daughter in bed and occasionally let her stay for a bit of a cuddle, but I never let her spend the whole night there - I don't sleepwalk but I do have night terrors when I'm over-tired and I didn't want her to get hurt. She has slept in a "full size" crib since birth (Ikea size, I don't know if it's a standard size across other brands).
